EPL team Tottenham Hotspur have made the decision to fire their manager and head coach Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino, was born in Argentina served as the head coach and manager of Tottenham Hotspur for five and a half years. The decision to fire Pochettino surprised many of Tottenham Hotspur’s fans as Pochettino led Tottenham Hotspur to the Champions League final, just six months ago. While the team performed phenomenally internationally, they have struggled to perform in the EPL this year and are currently ranked 14th, which led the owners of Tottenham Hotspur to make the quick decision to fire Mauricio Pochettino.
Dutch Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen wins the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix:
Max Verstappen was crowned the victor of the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix after battling against his rival British F1 driver Lewis Hamilton for the majority of the race. In the end Lewis Hamilton finished the Grand Prix in forth position, having lost two positions after poorly planning a pit stop.
A professional Dutch soccer player walks off the field after the crowd breaks out into racist chants:
During a professional soccer match between FC Den Bosch and Excelsior, the FC Den Bosch supporters broke out into racist chants about Black Pete a controversial fictional character in the Netherlands. Who was the servant of Father Christmas in Dutch mythology. After 30 minutes of putting up with the racist chanting one player Moreira walked off the field and the match was temporarily paused until the crowd quietened down. When the match resumed Moreira scored a goal to give his team Excelsior the lead. However, ultimately the match was a draw with both teams scoring three goals. As a result of the racist chants FC Den Bosch and its fans are being investigated by the Dutch Football Association.
Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo scores his 99th international goal:
Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 99th international goal during a match against Luxembourg, which helped Portugal qualify for the 2020 Euro UEFA championship. To date only one man in history has scored 100 professional international goals.
Federer is beaten by Stefanos Tsitsipas:
Roger Federer who is one of the most successful tennis players of all time was knocked out of the ATP semi finals by losing his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas an up and coming 21 year old Greek tennis player. After beating Roger Federer infant of a crowd of 18,000 inside London’s O2 Arena, Tsitsipas will face Dominic Thiem.
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios faces suspension after a heated outburst:
Nick Kyrgios may be suspended from playing professional tennis for 16 weeks as a penalty for an outburst at the Cincinnati Masters in August. Kyrgios broke two of his tennis rackets in the outburst during which he swore multiple times at his match’s chair umpire Fergus Murphy.
