Concordia V. Beversdorf

God called our beloved Concordia Victoria Beversdorf home on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, peacefully entering the arms of her Lord and Savior at 4:15 a.m. at the Aperion Care Nursing Home in Valparaiso, Indiana, where she had resided for the past 15 months.

Concordia was born on Dec. 10, 1918, in Shawano to the late Theodore and Alma (Luebker) Kupsky. She was baptized on Dec. 28, 1918, by the Rev. Frank F. Selle at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. She was confirmed on April 30, 1933, by the Rev. Walter J. Plischke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. Her confirmation verse was, “Be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5 (King James Version) Another favorite scripture was, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (KJV) She also liked saying, “Life is fragile, handle with prayer.” She was a woman of strong faith and commitment to the Lord.

Maria J. Oviedo

Maria J. Oviedo, 55, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 13, 2018, at her home, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Maria was born Aug. 6, 1962, in Coacoyula, Mexico, a daughter of the late Elfego and Gregoria (Flores) Cuenca. She attended school in Mexico. Maria married Raciel Oviedo in Mexico. The couple moved to the United States in 1978, and settled in Chicago. In the late 1980s the couple, along with their young family, moved to Shawano, where they established their family business, Flamingo’s Restaurant. Maria’s priorities were always family and work. She was a member of the Life Church.

Bonnebelle “Bonnie” Mell Plumb

Bonnebelle M. Plumb, 94 of Shawano, died on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018. Born on Sept. 27, 1923, in DeForest, she is the daughter of the late John and Caroline (Evenson) Mell. In 1941, Bonnie graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan. Bonnie was united in marriage to James Plumb on April 26, 1956, in Milwaukee, only to grieve his death 10 short months later. She raised her family on her own and was a fantastic mother, who was always supportive. She loved animals, her family and being outside — enjoying nature.

She is survived by her daughter, Darcy (Bill) Meyer, of Shawano; grandson, Adam Meyer, of Marshfield; and step-grandchildren, Heather (Kent) Urmanski, of Wausau, Nick Meyer, of Wausau, and Jackie (Scott) Fischer, of Stratford.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two sisters, Margaret Yurk and Ingeborg “Helen” Meyer.

Betty W. Malueg, 76, of Shawano, formerly of Tigerton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.

George E. Clayton, 81, passed away on Wednesday night, Jan. 17, 2018, at Atrium Post Acute Care at Maple Lane.

Concordia V. Beversdorf, 99, formerly of Shawano, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Jan. 17, 2018, in Valparaiso, Indiana, where she had been living with her son for the past several years. Funeral service arrangements are pending and will be announced later.

Eugene V. Fischer

Eugene V. Fischer, 80, of Marion, passed away peacefully Jan. 15, 2018, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah.

Eugene “Geno” Victor Fischer was born May 12, 1937, in the Town of Dupont to the late Melvin and Goldabell (Sell) Fischer. He attended Marion schools, where in high school, he sang in choir, was elected Prom king and played on the basketball team. He graduated in 1955. Geno served six months of training with the Army Reserves, after which he was employed at Marion Plywood for a time. He then leased and managed a restaurant in Stevens Point, and later partnered with Ray Olson opening Gene and Ray’s, a bar and grill in Marion.

Mary H. Prey

Mary Helen Prey, 91, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018. Mary was born in Glidden on May 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Vranich) Mrisch. On April 21, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Allen Prey, who preceded her in death in 1983. She worked as a legal secretary for 60 years with several different attorneys. Mary was a quiet, caring, sincere person and when it came to family and friends, she believed in quality over quantity.

Mary is survived by her son, Dick (Mary Lou) Prey, of Cecil; three grandsons, Andy, Perry and Ian Prey; five great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and one sister, Anna (Fred) Glynn, of Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; her parents; and four siblings, John, Robert, Nicholas and Gloria.

Lillian Bailey

Lillian (Raasch) Bailey, 79, of Bowler, passed away Jan. 16, 2018. Lillian was born Sept. 25, 1938, to the late Wally and Margaret (Davids) Raasch. Lillian was a 1956 graduate of Bowler High School.

When she was 7 years old, her grandma, Mamases Davids, taught her how to play the piano with the intent of grooming a successor after she retired from being the church organist. Those lessons did not go to waste, as Lillian was the organist at the three churches she was a member of during her time spent in California.
