William J. Holdorf Sr.

William J. Holdorf Sr., 88, of Cecil, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 11, 2011, at the Appleton Medical Center where he had been a patient for the past two days.

Bill was born July 10, 1923 in Milwaukee, a son of the late Peter and Katherine (Aschenbrenner) Holdorf. He attended Catholic schools in West Allis. He was raised by Celia and Anthony King.

Following school he entered the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Panama.

Upon returning from the service, Bill went to work at the Schlitz Brewing Company in Milwaukee. He retired in 1981 following 35 years of service.

In October 1983 he was united in marriage to the former Gloria Wallermann at his home. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Cecil.

Bill loved to cut lawns and blow snow for his neighbors. He was an avid Packers fan. While he was alive he took great care of his wife, Gloria. He loved to gaze out over Shawano Lake and enjoyed keeping an eye on the nesting eagles near his home.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria, a resident of Evergreen Care Center In Shawano; four daughters, Donna (James) Ciboski of Burlington, Wis., Christine (Tom) Meagher of Randolph, Wis., Patricia (Richard) Soetenga of Lake Delton, Wis., Mary (Kenneth) Jagielski of New Salem, N.D.; one son, William J. Holdorf Jr. of Waukesha, Wis; 14 grandchildren, Jonathon and Mark Ciboski, William and Anna Meagher, Laurie (Matt) Tracy, Joshua (Tracy) Moore, Jason (Cheryl) Moore, Bryson Jagielski, Dylan Jagielski, Nicole Holdorf, Deanna (Daryl) Martin, Michael Holdorf, Jacqueline Holdorf, Jennifer (Derek) Walchinski; his great-grandchildren, Brittany and Breanna Ciboski, D.J. and Alana Holdorf, Liana and Jacob Moore, Brayden Miexner, Jason Moore Jr., Kaelah Seelinger, Robert Tracy, Promyse Meagher, Jeremy, Caleb and Delaney Martin, Savannah, Sophie and Serena Martinez, Levi Walchinski; two step-daughters, Linda Cox and Mindy Laranda;

two sisters, Betty Weber and Carol Wagner, both of Kansasville, Wis.; sister-in-law Judy (Heinz) Holaus of Menominee Falls, Wis; brother-in-law-Robert (Carol) Wallermann of San Rafael, Calif.; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandson, Noah; five brothers, Elmer, Wally, Alfred, Robert and James Holdorf; and two sisters, Kate and Evelyn.

Funeral services for Bill Holdorf will be held on Monday, Aug. 15, at 12 p.m. at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. James Lonick, lay minister of worship, will officiate. Interment with military honors will be at the Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Relatives and friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday.
