St. Paul's opening veggie stand

Congregation members at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel are utilizing a seasonal favorite to raise money for the fellowship. <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>Tami Frappy and Sherri Krause took it upon themselves to kick-start the veggie stand fundraiser that debuted last year to raise money for the church and school&rsquo;s general fund.</p> <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>The stand is open approximately 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays at Dollar General, 234 S. Cecil St., Bonduel.</p> <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>&ldquo;We have between 15 to 20 families contributing items,&rdquo; Krause said, noting that parents who request tuition assistance for their children take priority from the funds.</p> <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>They hope to raise at least $2,000.</p> <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>&ldquo;A similar veggie stand was used in my hometown up north and they raise a couple thousand, so I hope we can, too,&rdquo; Krause said.</p> <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>St. Paul Lutheran School Principal Gerald Schmidt said it&rsquo;s always nice when congregation members take the initiative to help their community.</p> <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>Frappy said with extra space in her yard she expanded her own garden.</p> <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>&ldquo;I have so many vegetables that I can&rsquo;t use, so it&rsquo;s nice to be able to help,&rdquo; she said.</p> <p><span class="neIDps" style="display: none;"> </span><span class="neIDcs" style="display: none;"> </span>Volunteers are welcomed to help with the fundraiser.
