St. Paul's opening veggie stand

Congregation members at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel are utilizing a seasonal favorite to raise money for the fellowship.

Tami Frappy and Sherri Krause took it upon themselves to kick-start the veggie stand fundraiser that debuted last year to raise money for the church and school’s general fund.

The stand is open approximately 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays at Dollar General, 234 S. Cecil St., Bonduel.

“We have between 15 to 20 families contributing items,” Krause said, noting that parents who request tuition assistance for their children take priority from the funds.

They hope to raise at least $2,000.

“A similar veggie stand was used in my hometown up north and they raise a couple thousand, so I hope we can, too,” Krause said.

St. Paul Lutheran School Principal Gerald Schmidt said it’s always nice when congregation members take the initiative to help their community.

Frappy said with extra space in her yard she expanded her own garden.

“I have so many vegetables that I can’t use, so it’s nice to be able to help,” she said.

Volunteers are welcomed to help with the fundraiser. For more information, contact St. Paul at 715-758-8559.
