Shawano falls to Bay Port in season opener

<p>The Shawano varsity boys soccer team fell to nonconference Bay Port on Tuesday 2-1 to open its season.</p><p>Bay Port took the early lead with a goal two minutes into the match. Shawano answered on a penalty kick by Jacob Schnell to tie the game before the half.</p><p>In the second half Bay Port scored twelve minutes in and never gave up the lead.</p><p>Goalie Mike Meisner had eight saves.</p><p>Shawano will travel to Luxemburg-Casco for its Aug. 23 conference opener.<strong></strong></p><p>Bowler/Gresham 5, Amherst-Iola 1</p><p>Bowler/Gresham boys soccer won their opening match Tuesday against Amherst-Iola 5-1.</p>

Breakout: 
<p>Bowler's Tom Williams opened the scoring with an early goal. Amherst-Iola answered and the teams took a 1-1 tie into the half.</p><p>In the second half it was all Bowler.</p><p>Williams scored three more goals and Christian Haffner added a goal.</p><p>Goalie Walker Miller had 11 saves.</p>
