Eagles fifth at Northland Pines Invite

The Menominee Indian varsity girls volleyball team placed fifth of 10 teams Saturday at the Northland Pines Invite in Eagle River.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->In the first game, the Eagles beat Wausaukee in three sets, losing the first 25-21 and winning the last two 25-23 and 15-7.Eleanor Wayka led the Eagles with 12 kills, an ace, two block kills, an assist and three digs. Kimmi LaTender had five kills, two assists.

The Menominee Indian varsity girls volleyball team placed fifth of 10 teams Saturday at the Northland Pines Invite in Eagle River.

In the first game, the Eagles beat Wausaukee in three sets, losing the first 25-21 and winning the last two 25-23 and 15-7.Eleanor Wayka led the Eagles with 12 kills, an ace, two block kills, an assist and three digs. Kimmi LaTender had five kills, two assists. Sam Pecore had 16 assists, and Diandra Fowler had three kills and one block kill.

Menominee Indian failed to avoid the shutout Saturday in a varsity football game against the Northern Lakes Conference-leading Northern Elite in Keshena.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->The Northern Elite (5-1) won the game 40-0, scoring 18 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->The leading rusher for Northern Elite was Weston Sexton, who had 10 carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Quarterback Alex Wynos led the Eagles in rushing with 14 carries and 56 yards.

Northern Elite shut out Eagles

Menominee Indian failed to avoid the shutout Saturday in a varsity football game against the Northern Lakes Conference-leading Northern Elite in Keshena.

The Northern Elite (5-1) won the game 40-0, scoring 18 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second.

The leading rusher for Northern Elite was Weston Sexton, who had 10 carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns.

Quarterback Alex Wynos led the Eagles in rushing with 14 carries and 56 yards. Naeciwat LaTender had nine carries for 46 yards.

Gresham/Bowler falls 4-0 in soccer

<p>Wausau Newman Catholic beat Gresham/Bowler in a varsity soccer match Tuesday night in Gresham.</p><p>Newman scored three goals in the first half and one in the second to win the game 4-0.</p><p>Gresham/Bowler goalie Walker Miller had 12 saves.</p><p>The loss puts the Wildcats at 5-7 on the season.</p>

Shawano loses to Seymour in four

<p>The Shawano varsity volleyball team lost in four sets Tuesday night in Seymour.</p><p>Seymour won the first two sets 26-24 and 25-19. Shawano took the third 25-20 before losing the fourth 25-13.</p><p>The stat leaders for Shawano were Emily Klitzke, with 14 kills and four blocks; Brianna Waukau, with 19 assists; and Mikayla Schoening, with 21 digs. Ashley Ainsworth had 13 assists and two aces.

Shiocton beats Bonduel in five

<p>The Bonduel varsity volleyball team pushed Shiocton to five sets Tuesday night in Shiocton.</p><p>Shiocton won the first set 27-25 and the third set 25-15. Bonduel won the second set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-20.</p><p>Shiocton took the fifth set 15-11 to get the victory.</p><p>Bonduel's Alison Rickert had 15 points, an ace and four blocks. Abby Reinke had 13 assists, two aces, 12 kills and four blocks.
