Hawks soccer sinks Marines 6-1

After giving up an early goal, the Shawano varsity boys soccer team blew past Marinette 6-1 Thursday night.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Marinette started the scoring when Austin Mahlik kicked a corner and Alan Stefanic headed the ball past Hawks goalie Mike Meisner.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->"It was a good corner," Shawano coach Bob Croschere said. Hawks soccer sinks Marines 6-1

After giving up an early goal, the Shawano varsity boys soccer team blew past Marinette 6-1 Thursday night.

Marinette started the scoring when Austin Mahlik kicked a corner and Alan Stefanic headed the ball past Hawks goalie Mike Meisner.

"It was a good corner," Shawano coach Bob Croschere said. "They got a nice header off of it. Probably shouldn't have been there, but it was there."

That was the only goal Marinette would get.

The Shawano varsity girls volleyball team defeated New London in a match Thursday night in Shawano.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Shawano won in three sets, 25-22, 26-24 and 25-14.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->"They are running a very powerful and effective offense and are extremely tough on defense," Shawano volleyball coach Jean Balke-Wolff said.

The Shawano varsity girls volleyball team defeated New London in a match Thursday night in Shawano.

Shawano won in three sets, 25-22, 26-24 and 25-14.

"They are running a very powerful and effective offense and are extremely tough on defense," Shawano volleyball coach Jean Balke-Wolff said. "This combination makes for very exciting volleyball."

The Tigerton varsity girls volleyball team remained undefeated Thursday with a road victory over conference foe Tri-County.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Tigerton won the first set 25-8, the second set 25-11 and the third 25-5.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Emily Ortner led the team with 16 points and 22 kills. Erin Ortner added 14 points while Rachael Robbins had 19 assists.

Volleyball Roundup

The Tigerton varsity girls volleyball team remained undefeated Thursday with a road victory over conference foe Tri-County.

Tigerton won the first set 25-8, the second set 25-11 and the third 25-5.

Emily Ortner led the team with 16 points and 22 kills. Erin Ortner added 14 points while Rachael Robbins had 19 assists. Miranda Michaelis had 14 assists.

The victory gives the Tigers a 14-0 record overall with half of those wins coming in the Central Wisconsin Conference-10.
