Bonduel looks to get back on track

<p>The Bonduel Bears varsity football team (4-2) will host Stevens Point Pacelli (2-4) at its homecoming game Friday night.</p><p>The Bears are eager to put Friday's 35-15 loss to Central Wisconsin Conference-8 leaders Shiocton (6-0) behind them.</p><p>"Obviously the kids are a little bummed after last week, but we had a good week of practice," Bonduel coach James Westrich said Wednesday.

Hawks heading to sectionals

<p>The Shawano girls golf team took third place in the division 1 regionals Wednesday at Thornberry Creek Golf Course in Oneida.</p><p>The Lady Hawks scored 410 while Notre Dame, the host school, won the event with a score of 343. Green Bay Preble took second with 361. Seymour (422) beat Bay Port (423) by one stroke to take fourth place, just making the cut to move on to sectionals Oct. 4-5.</p><p>The other teams at the event were Green Bay Southwest/West, Pulaski and Green Bay East.

Milwaukee high school honors Wallace

<p>"If Frank were playing today," Frank Wallace's high school coach Herm Buechel said, "he could bypass college and go right into the pros as a punter."</p><p>Wallace, a Shawano resident for 25 years, was honored earlier this year for his athletic career at Milwaukee Messmer High School.</p><p>Wallace was inducted into Messmer's athletic hall of fame.</p><p>Wallace was a standout football player in the 1960s and earned third team All-State and first team All-Conference honors his senior year.</p><p>While Wal

The Bears are eager to put Friday's 35-15 loss to Central Wisconsin Conference-8 leaders Shiocton (6-0) behind them.

"Obviously the kids are a little bummed after last week, but we had a good week of practice," Bonduel coach James Westrich said Wednesday. "Hopefully we come out and execute our game plan better this week."

Bonduel will need to tighten up its rushing defense after allowing Shiocton's Hunter Young to gash it for 203 yards.
