Charlotte A. Kaquatosh

Charlotte A. Kaquatosh, 69, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018, in Appleton. Charlotte was born on Aug. 28, 1948, in Two Rivers, the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Thelma L. (Stueck) Hoffman. On Nov. 30, 1967, Charlotte was united in marriage to Bernard “Ben” J. Kaquatosh in Stevens Point. Charlotte was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit. Through the church, she helped teach the Menominee people religion and the Menominee language. Charlotte was a warm, caring and giving woman who opened her heart to many people. She loved animals, especially her pets, being out in the woods and hunting.

Joyce C. Koons

Joyce C. Koons, 91, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in Shawano. Joyce was born on Feb. 1, 1927, in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of the late Roy J.C. and Carol E. (Beed) Bird. On July 11, 1945, she was united in marriage to George Koons in San Francisco, California. Joyce is a member of the Church on the Hill in Shawano. She was a very intelligent woman and liked challenging games and puzzles. In her free time, Joyce enjoyed playing cards and traveling with her friends.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 72 years, George; her daughter, Sheila C. Koons, of Wausaukee; her sister, Norma Lee Bock, of Watermon, Illinois; and her half-sister, Sharon (Donn) Loe of Seal Beach, California.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda J. Porter, in 2015; her parents; two brothers, Gary Bird and George Bird; and two sisters, Jean Mount and Mary Lou Klink.

Harvey A. Ebelt

Harvey Arthur Ebelt, 66, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in Shawano. Harvey was born in Shawano on Aug. 14, 1951, the son of the late Lester Ebelt and Glory Ann (Eckert) Marotz. In 1969, Harvey graduated from Shawano High School. On Oct. 7, 1972, he was united in marriage to Eileen Ann Wilk in Appleton. He worked at Little Rapids Corp. for more than 40 years before retiring in 2014. Harvey was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano as well as the Wolf River Carvers, Lunds Snowbirds, Shawano Gun Club and Jerusalem Cemetery Auxiliary. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Harvey was an old car enthusiast and enjoyed watching the local stock car races as well as NASCAR. In his free time he enjoyed watching the birds, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and was a fan of Shawano All Star Bowling. Snowmobiling, trail riding and shooting the bull with the guys were also some of Harvey’s favorite pastimes.

Harry W. Kasten

Harry Walter Kasten, 90, a longtime resident of Cecil, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on May 15, 2018. Harry was born in Gillett on Aug. 13, 1927, to Harris and Evelyn Brown Kasten. After his mother’s passing shortly after his birth, Harry was raised for his first six years by his aunt Nora Kasten Larsen and her husband, Warner, of Gillett, before returning home to work the family farm in the Town of Gillett. He graduated from Gillett High School in 1946 and married Ora Fuller of Oconto Falls in 1950, having four sons. In 1978, he married Nancy Strassburg Rogge, of Gillett, and enjoyed an adventurous, loving 40-year marriage.

Harold R. Kesler

Harold Reinhardt Kesler, 90, Appleton, peacefully passed away on May 13, 2018. He was born on July 17, 1927, in Marshfield to the late Harry and Agnes (Smudde) Kesler. His wife, Mary Ellen Kesler, preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 2017.

Hal was blessed with a full and interesting life. Born an identical twin, he and his twin, Herb, enjoyed many of the various antics that only twins can create throughout their childhood and into their adult years. Hal always enjoyed telling stories of his and Herb’s work on the extended families’ farms in Colby, their years of service in the U.S. Navy as well as fraternity life at St. Norbert’s College where he received a Bachelor of Science in physics.

Viola J. Zeuske

Viola Jane (Ourada) Zeuske, 91, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018, at the Unity Hospice Residence in De Pere.

Viola (Vi) was born on Nov. 20, 1926, in Marathon County. Daughter of the late James and Mary (Tikalsky) Ourada. Vi was the youngest of 11 children, graduated from the Antigo Vocational School, she then was employed by her brothers who owned the Dixie Lunch in Antigo where she met her future husband.

On Oct. 8, 1949, Vi and Eugene Zeuske eloped to Milwaukee. In 1956, Gene and Vi started the Zeuske Insurance Agency in Shawano and were licensed agents for 32 years.

Vi was an avid and champion bridge player, active with the Homemakers, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Shawano Republican Women. Vi was happiest when she was fishing in Canada, making over 150 trips to their cabin in Minaki, Ontario. Vi was known for her fish fries and fabulous pies. She loved her family and friends very much.
