Carol J. Cornelius

Carol J. Cornelius, 75, of Shawano, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 27, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care of Shawano.

Carol was born June 10, 1942, in Clintonville, a daughter of the late Fred and Rose (Spitzer) Buelow. She was a graduate of Clintonville High School. Following high school, Carol married Dale Cornelius. The couple took over Dale’s family farm just outside of Shawano. Later, Carol drove cab part-time. Carol is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. She enjoyed crafting and playing cards.

Survivors include her siblings, Bob Buelow, John Buelow and Sheila (Michael) Marasch; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Fred Jr., Leonard, Dennis and Jerry.

A memorial service for Carol will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Scott Ludford will officiate. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred in Carol’s name.

Eugene E. Kroening

Eugene E. Kroening, 72, of Tilleda, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, in Shawano. Born on Jan. 24, 1945, in Bonduel, he was the son of the late Maynard and Bernice (Knueppel) Kroening. In January 1994, Eugene was united in marriage to Jenny Schultz in Tilleda. Jenny preceded him in death in 2003. Eugene served our country for over 20 years in the United States Army until his honorable discharge on May 31, 1983. Following his retirement from the military, he worked in landscaping for over 30 years. Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping at Captain’s Cove and his trips to Texas.

LaVerna Krause Barrick

LaVerna Krause Barrick, 88, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, in Shawano. Born on Oct. 7, 1929, in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Jewel and Myrtle (Raasch) Raddant. LaVerna graduated from Shawano High School and attended St. Mary’s School in Green Bay for nursing. On Oct. 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Krause at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Leopolis. Robert preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1986. On Dec. 2, 2000, LaVerna married Donald L. Barrick in Chandler, Arizona. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2017. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Zachow, where she was part of the Ladies Aide and LWML. LaVerna was also an auxilary member of International Gideons, past president of Shawano Camp, State Widow Coordinator and the past chairman of Shawano Christian Women.

William ‘Bill’ Edward Rosin

William “Bill” Edward Rosin, 76, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, in Shawano. Bill was born in Shawano on April 27, 1941, the son of the late Edward and Pearl (Zueske) Rosin. On May 10, 1969, he was united in marriage to Rita Marie Stronach. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2015. Bill served in the Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the American Legion, Vietnam Vets, AmVets, served as past president of Allied Veterans, past secretary of Shawano Bowling Association and was on the board of directors for the Shawano Rec Department. He helped to set up the Memorial Day program as well as other programs for the veterans. Bill worked at Zachow Creamery and enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Bill is survived by two daughters, Amy (Stuart) Henning, of Shawano, and Robin (Mark Schreiber) Rosin, of Florida; and five grandchildren, Alex, Parker, Mercedes, Nick and Kaitlin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; and granddaughter, Allison.

Jerry D. Rensberger, 85, of North Webster and Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Owen Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.

James ‘Jim’ Robert Paiser

James R. Paiser, 63, of Cecil, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017. He was born in Shawano, on Sept. 15, 1954, the son of Robert and the late Helen (Pieper) Paiser. Jim is a 1972 graduate of Marion High School, where he excelled in baseball. He was united in marriage to Bonnie (nee Fabry) Martineau in Clintonville, on Sept. 24, 1994. Jim was a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed farming, watching the Green Bay Packers, taking unexpected road trips, making maple syrup, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandkids. He was especially fond of his daily telephone calls from his father, Robert and his daughter, Jamie.

Carole Ann Newman

God has taken a ray of His sunshine home. Carole Ann Newman, 72, died Nov. 26, 2017, of pancreatic cancer.

Carole Ann (Zwigol) Lotten Newman was born April 28, 1945, in Green Bay to the late Werner and Meriam Zwigol. She was baptized in 1947 in Green Bay. She graduated from East High School in 1963 and remained close friends with many of her classmates throughout her life. In 1964, she married John Lotten, Jr., and they had two sons, Mark John and Sean Eric. On Friday, Jan. 13, 1984, she met Darrell (Chet) Newman and they were married Feb. 14, 1987. They celebrated the 13th of every month as Honeys Day.

Carole worked in the insurance industry until 1987 when she and Chet started Newman Printing, Inc., in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2000, they sold the business and retired in Wisconsin, living ten years in Webster before moving to Cecil.

Rae C. Ballbach

Rae C. Ballbach, 85, of Gresham, formerly of the Town of Port Washington, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at Gables on the Pond at Random Lake.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1932, in Oconto Falls, daughter of Fred and Hazel Gardefee George. Rae grew up in Milwaukee. On Nov. 3, 1961, Rae married John M. Ballbach of Port Washington. Together they settled in the Town of Port Washington.

Primarily a homemaker raising her seven children, Rae worked by her husband’s side throughout their many ventures. Over the years, she and her husband operated a hobby farm, keeping bees, raising chickens and horses. She provided management skills, as well as working long days, both inside and outside the home. In 1989, Rae and John moved to the Shawano area full time. When John preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2015; Rae soon after returned to the Port Washington area to be closer to her family.

Ronald G. Hogan

Ronald Gerald “Ron” Hogan, 73, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lunds on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017.

Ron was born in El Paso, Texas on June 18, 1944, a son of the late Kenneth A. and Alice M. (Broehm) Hogan. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Menasha High School. Ron enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 17, 1961, and proudly served six years before being honorably discharged in 1967. He went on to work in sales at Ray’s Tire of Appleton, where made countless friends over a career that spanned five decades. He was a big fan of Elvis and enjoyed fishing and hunting. With Ron, family was always first. His door was open to all and he was “Dad” to many of his kids’ friends while they were growing up and after. He will be sadly missed.
