Ila Mae H. Moede

Ila Mae H. Moede, 95, fourth-generation, lifelong Shawano resident and community historian, passed away at her home on Sunday, April 10, 2016.

Shortly after her birth on Sept. 3, 1920, in Neopit, Ila and her parents, the late George and Hilda (Netzel) Hill, moved back to Shawano. After high school, she was employed at Cantwell-Peterson Clinic.

Ila always had an interest in flying and became the first woman to solo an airplane from the Shawano airport. On May 25, 1946, in Shawano, Ila was united in marriage to Warren L. Moede, who preceded her in death on March 12, 1994. She worked at Moede & Son’s Plumbing as a bookkeeper until her retirement.

Gordon G. Ainsworth

Gordon Gilbert Ainsworth, 91, of Bonduel, passed away, Saturday, April 9, 2016, due to complications after surgery for a broken hip.

Gordon was born on Friday, Feb. 13, 1925, to the late Henry and Pauline (DeSwarte) Ainsworth.

Gordon grew up on the Ainsworth family farm in the town of Waukechon. He started his education in the Dallman School. After graduating from Shawano High School, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics on the GI Bill.

On June 14, 1952, Gordon was united in marriage to Marjorie Peterman. Together they raised six strong and independent daughters on a dairy farm near Frazer Corners. In 1962, Gordon was recognized as Shawano County Outstanding Young Farmer.

Marcella M. Pues

Marcella M. Pues, 79, of the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the Evergreen Care Center in Shawano.

Marcella was born on March 17, 1937, in the Township of Maine, Outagamie County, as the daughter of the late Walter and Carrie (Euhardy) Krueger. She graduated from Clintonville High School. Marcella later met Sherman Pues while at church, and the rest was history, as they say. The couple were united in marriage on July 5, 1958, at Ascension Lutheran Church in the Township of Navarino, Shawano County. They resided their entire married life in the Township of Matteson, where they raised their family. Sherman preceded his wife in death on Nov. 25, 2013.

Marcella’s main focus was always on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had been a member of her local homemakers club and enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, cooking, baking, watching her birds, and reading to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Neil P. Burton

Neil P. Burton, 81, of Clintonville, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton.

Neil Phillip Burton was born on March 21, 1935, in the town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, to Melvin and Margaret (Bronold) Burton. After graduating from Bear Creek High School, he entered the military. Neil served stateside in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. Following the service, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a year. He was united in marriage on Aug. 30, 1958, to Patricia K. Schroeder at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville.

Neil was a handyman and worked at various jobs in the Clintonville area over the years, like FWD Corporation, was a carpenter with Doug Heiman Builders, sold Christmas trees for Arneson’s, and worked part-time as a custodian at Bear Creek School District.

Russell P. Conjurski

Russell Conjurski, 69, of Keshena, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016.

Russell Peter Conjurski was born in Manitowoc on May 30, 1946, son of the late Clarence and Marceil (Parworph) Conjurski Sr. After graduating from high school, Russell served his country honorably as a United States Marine in the Vietnam Conflict. He went on to work for Boeing Airplane Co. in Seattle, Washington. While living in Seattle, Russell was united in marriage to Shelley Pyawasay.

In his free time Russell enjoyed cooking, painting, flying remote-controlled airplanes and especially fishing.

Russell is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shelley; siblings, Carmen Olson, of Indiana, Gale Pechinski, of Manitowoc, Clarence Conjurski Jr., of Manitowoc, and Scott House, of Florida. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Patrick C. Fazendin

Patrick Casey Fazendin, born on March 7, 1966, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2016, at the age of 50.

Patrick loved photography, sailing, computer programming and the culinary arts. His talents included the unique ability to engage people, and to find pleasure in the natural beauty of the world around him. All these skills made him an extremely congenial individual whom everyone enjoyed being around.

Patrick is survived by: two wonderful daughters, Caitlin and Casey Fazendin; two grandchildren, Reese Fazendin and Charliese Pedretti; as well as his brothers and sisters, Jean (Richard) Ready, Mary Huelskamp, Tom (Lee) Fazendin and Scott (Karen) Fazendin; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all who loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Phyllis Fazendin.

Private family services will be held.

Robert F. Thayer Jr.

Robert “Bob” F. Thayer Jr., 80, of Bonduel, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2016, with his family by his side, after his long battle with cancer.

Bob was born on Aug. 26, 1935, to the late Robert and Jean (Gielczewski) Thayer in Chicago. He was united in marriage to Ellie Doljanin on Feb. 14, 1935, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Chicago. They had recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Bob and Ellie moved from Chicago to Wabeno and lived there for 10 years. He worked for the state Department of Transportation for 17 years before retiring and moving to Bonduel to be closer to his daughters and family.

Bob loved to spend time with his family and friends, going to see the guys at the Shawano McDonald’s and golfing with friends. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Bob was known for his quick wit, great sense of humor, always willing to help others and his good heart. Family was everything to him.

Sandi Giordana

Sandi “Beach” Giordana, 60, passed away on April 3, 2016, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born to Emil and Lorraine (Morton) Giordana.

Sandi was a free spirit, which brought her to many places in the states. She loved camping, fishing, building and creating projects, gardening, and was an avid planter of trees. She loved her family dearly. Life for Sandi was all about spending time with family, friends and her grandchildren.

Sandi spent her career as a certified nursing assistant. With having such a career, she was able to care for her grandmother Violet. She then worked at Maple Lane Health Care Center, and for the last 10 years, she cared for her mother.

Roy F. Hoppe Jr., 64, of the Township of Dupont, passed away on Sunday April 3, 2016, at ThedaCare Appleton Medical Center.

The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Marion, is assisting his family.
