Roger J. Tyrrell

Roger J. Tyrrell, 83, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in Shawano.

Roger was born in Pound on March 19, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Gertrude L. (Huss) Tyrrell. He graduated from Shiocton High School and then attended St. Norbert College. Along with his family, he owned and operated Tyrrell Rainbow Bar in Thornton.

Roger was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano.

Roger is survived by three sisters, Lois Schwartz, of Sobiski, Germaine (Alvin) Fetterly, of Lena, and Barbara Tyrrell, of Appleton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters, Doris Urbanek and JoAnn Tyrell; and two nephews, Scott and George.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Lillian M. Nau

Lillian Minnie Nau, 108, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016, in Shawano.

Lillian was born on April 27, 1908, in Merrill, the daughter of the late Emil and Augusta (Raatz) Zastrow. On July 21, 1928, Lillian was united in marriage to Melvin Sanders, who preceded her in death, in Merrill. On July 10, 1971, Lillian was united in marriage to the Rev. John H. Nau; he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1974. She worked at Hansen Glove Corporation and later at Clintonville Hospital before her retirement.

Lillian was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, the Ladies Aid, LWML, Quilting Ladies, and she enjoyed attending Bible classes.

Shirley M. Paiser-Blum

Shirley Marie Paiser-Blum, 88 and 9/10 years, of Appleton, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at Brewster Village. Although Alzheimer’s had taken away her ability to remember, it could not compete with her ability to brighten the room with her infectious smile and unforgettable laughter.

Shirley was born on July 17, 1927, in Shawano, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Hartel) Fischer. On Feb. 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gordon Paiser and divorced at a later date. On Dec. 2, 1978, she was united in marriage to her “blind date,” Arnold Blum, with whom she spent the next 20 years.

Lon L. Mortensen

Lon L. Mortensen, 78, of Shawano, found peace early Saturday morning, July 2, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Lon was born on Sept. 20, 1937, in New Lisbon to the late Harry A. and Luella M. (Scribbins) Mortensen. He attended kindergarten through eighth grade at Juneau County Normal Demonstration Room, a school for student teacher training. He went on to attend New Lisbon High School, graduating in 1955. During high school he was a Badger Boys State designee and was the president of his senior class.

Christina M. Mogged

Christina “Chris” Marie Mogged, Mom, 94, Shawano, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2016, with her daughters by her side. She was born on May 10, 1922, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Frank Coman and Elsie (Schyman) Coman-Young, the sixth of eight children. She attended Sunday School for 13 years without missing a single Sunday.

Mom also taught Sunday School for many years in New Jersey. As a young woman, Mom worked at Chenille Bedspreads and at Grant’s Five and Dime Store. Mom was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Totowa Borough, New Jersey, during World War II.

Shirley M. Paiser-Blum

Beatrice M. Messner

Beatrice M. Messner, 75, of Sheboygan, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. She was born on March 14, 1941, in Keshena, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Ahkenokosay) Cook. Beatrice was married for 18 years to Jerome Messner Jr., who preceded her in death. She loved watching “General Hospital,” and would never take calls during that hour. Beatrice was an avid Packers and Brewers fan.

Mae A. Ebelt

Mae A. Ebelt, 90, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, in Shawano following a lengthy illness.

Mae was born on Jan. 8, 1926, in the town of Wescott, Shawano County, a daughter of the late Milton and Clara (Norton) Krueger. She was the second of 10 children. She attended North Beach School and later Bonduel High School. On March 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Gordon Ebelt in Shawano. Following their marriage the couple lived in the Shawano area. The couple was blessed with one son, Larry Ebelt, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1992.

Mae was a homemaker. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano. She loved to cook and care for her family and friends. She also loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mae enjoyed her flower gardens.
