Margery H. Muck

Margery H. Muck, 88, of Shawano, passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016.

Margery was born in the town of Washington, Shawano County, on April 21, 1927, to the late Henry and Hulda (Matthe) Meisner. On July 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert Muck at Peace Evangelical and Reform Church in Shawano.

Robert and Margery owned and operated a dairy farm for many years. Margie also did the bookkeeping for several other area businesses. In her free time, she enjoyed being active with Lady Loons, several homemakers groups, Ducks Unlimited, Peace United Church of Christ, as well as 4-H, where she volunteered as a leader for over 50 years.

Margery also served as the town clerk for the town of Herman for several years.

Gerald E. Cornelius Sr.

Gerald Eugene “Corny” Cornelius Sr., 78, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016.

Gerald was born on Oct. 5, 1937, in Shawano, the son of the late Palmer and Murial (Wicklund) Cornelius. He was united in marriage to Shirley Hanson on Jan. 30, 1960, in Navarino.

Gerald worked in Milwaukee at GMC and later at the U.S. Postal Service. He moved back to Shawano and was employed by FWD and 3D Fire Apparatus and Elite Fire Apparatus of Tilleda before retiring.

Gerald was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, enjoyed watching stock car racing and shooting pool. He was an avid Packers fan and loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

Gerald loved his family; he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as much as he loved life. His sweet smile and soft blue eyes were a true reflection of his big heart, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Elda Schutt

Elda Schutt, 85, of Clover Leaf Lakes, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in Shawano.

Elda Mae Ida was born to John A. and Barbara (Degner) Kruse on May 13, 1930. On Nov. 6, 1948, Elda was united in marriage to Reinhold R. Schutt at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Reinhold preceded Elda in death on March 2, 2004.

Elda enjoyed country western music, country western TV, and had a passion for reading. Her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren.

Veronica Phalen

Veronica (Cook) Phalen, 71, of Sheboygan, died on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016.

Veronica was born on July 23, 1944, in Keshena to the late Albert and Marie (Ahkenokosay) Cook. She was united in marriage to John Phalen, who preceded her in death.

Veronica enjoy playing bingo and going to the casino. She was a special auntie who was loved by her nieces and nephews.

Veronica is survived by one sister, Beatrice (Cook) Messner, of Sheboygan; one brother, Warren “Buddy” (Anita) Kaquatosh, of Keshena; two stepsisters, Beverly Klemp, of Eagle River, and Mickoleen Kormann of Sturgeon Bay; and one stepbrother, Harold (Darlene) Price, of Bowler. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, Jamie; her parents; and three brothers, Albert, William and Michael.

Lillian R. Abrahamson

Lillian R. Abrahamson, 95, of Tigerton, died on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah.

The former Lillian Ruth Boe was born on Sept. 24, 1920, in Loyal to Henry and Ethel (Castner) Boe. She graduated from Loyal High School and went on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, receiving a degree in education. On Jan. 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lennert M. Abrahamson at the Methodist Church in Loyal.

Over her career, Lillian taught mostly high school English in Tigerton and Marion for quite some years. The couple moved to Waldorf, Maryland, where she taught school for five years in La Plata. In 1976, the couple returned to Tigerton so that they could help Len’s father operate the Tigerton Elevator. For some time, Lillian continued to substitute and help out at school whenever possible. Her husband, Len, preceded her in death on May 12, 2003.

Clyde H. Jacobs Sr.

Clyde H. Jacobs Sr., 74, of Faribault, Minnesota, passed away on Feb. 22, 2016.

Clyde was born on June 13, 1941, in Tomah to Gretta (Tousey) Jacobs and the late Howard Jacobs. After graduating from Bowler High School, Clyde enlisted in the United States Navy. On June 1, 1963, he married Betsy A. Chandler in Fairmont, Minnesota. Betsy preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2015. The couple resided in St. Paul, Minnesota, for 46 years before moving to Faribault, where they lived the rest of their lives.

Clyde and Betsy taught many classes in Native American beadwork in their home and at schools. The beadwork was outstanding and was recognized by being on display at the Minnesota Historical Society.

Clyde also enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle.

Adeline D. Beilfuss

Adeline Dorothy Beilfuss, 89, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, in Shawano. Adeline was born on April 22, 1926, in the town of Maple Valley to the late Charley and Hazel (Boettcher) Zahn.

She was united in marriage to Allen H. Beilfuss on Oct. 25, 1948, in Bessemer, Michigan. Allen preceded her in death on March 10, 2001. Although she was born in Oconto County, she lived most of her life in Shawano County, where she and Allen farmed.

Adeline was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine.

Adeline is survived by her son, Allen (Elizabeth) Beilfuss Jr., of Shawano, and her foster daughter, Peggy (Allen) Lange, of Shawano. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Amber and Eric Beilfuss; her foster grandchildren, Brian and Lisa; as well as two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hailey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; one son, Ricky; her parents; and one brother, Marvin Zahn.

Carl F. Westphal

Carl F. Westphal, 90, of Clintonville, passed away early Tuesday morning, Feb. 23, 2016, at Aster Retirement Community, Clintonville.

Carl Fred Westphal was born in the town of Pella, Shawano County, on Nov. 15, 1925, to the late Fred & Amanda (Ray) Westphal. He was baptized in December 1925 by the Rev. Emil Stubenvoll and confirmed July 1939 by the Rev. Gerhardt Nass at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pella. He was a member of the Luther League at church.

Carl graduated from Fairview grade school in 1939 and Marion High School in 1943. On Aug. 18, 1951, he was united in marriage to Margaret Elsie Roever at Peace Lutheran Church, Split Rock, by the Rev. Rueben Stubenvoll.

Dorothea A. Gehrt

Dorothea A. Gehrt, 91, of Clintonville, passed away on Saturday morning, Feb. 20, 2016, at the Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville.

Dorothea was born on Oct. 4, 1924, in Milwaukee as the daughter of the late Virgil and Pearl (Lamp) Wulfson. After moving to Clintonville with her family, Dorothea graduated from Clintonville High School with the Class of 1942. She was united in marriage to Raymond Gehrt. The couple had two children and later divorced.

Dorothea worked numerous jobs, which took her to Appleton and Milwaukee while raising her family. She moved back to Clintonville after her retirement. She was a past member of Christus Lutheran Church.

Dorothea enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was artistic and just a fun person to be around.
