Russell P. Kostrzak

Russell P. Kostrzak, 91, of Tigerton, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at his home.

Russell Paul Kostrzak was born on May 30, 1924, in the town of Little Wolf, Waupaca County, to Louis and Polly (Clapps) Kostrzak. He graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1942 and then attended Marquette University in Milwaukee for one year. After high school, up until 1956, Russ worked on the family farm in the town of Little Wolf. He then went on to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, receiving a bachelor’s degree in science in 1959. He taught secondary school in Seymour from 1959 to 1967.

Daniel A. “Dan” Richards, 69, of Gresham, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, in Appleton.

Mary A. Zimmerman

Mary A. Zimmerman, 73, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, Jan. 11, 201, at the Theda Care Medical Center in Shawano.

Mary was born on May 15, 1942, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Stancar) Brezonick. She grew up in Elm Grove and graduated from Brookfield Central High School. Mary then worked for the Harley Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee, where she met John Zimmerman. The couple were united in marriage on Sept. 5, 1970, in Milwaukee. In 1977, they moved to Shawano, where they operated a resort on Shawano Lake called Zimmerman’s Pier 366. Then in 1995, the couple moved to the town of Belle Plaine. John preceded his wife in death on Nov. 6, 2003.

Warren G. Griepentrog

Warren G. Griepentrog, 65, of Tigerton, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2015, at a courageous battle with cancer.

Warren Glenn Griepentrog was born on Oct. 30, 1950, in Wausau to George and Judy (McFarlane) Griepentrog. He was raised in Tigerton and attended Tigerton High School, Class of 1968. Warren went on to Northcentral Technical College, where he earned a degree in electronics. Over the years he worked at various jobs, but spent most of his years with these three employers: Arrowcast Foundry in Shawano, Hillshire Farms in New London and Marion Plywood Corporation.

Warren was united in marriage on Oct. 10, 1981, to Ann M. Redman in Neenah. The couple made their home in the Split Rock and Tigerton area. Words like honest, down-to-earth, practical and strong-willed were all traits that described Warren’s personality. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and going fishing, whether around the area for northern pike or going out on Lake Michigan for salmon.

William J. Maersch

William (Bill) John Maersch, 79, town of Washington, passed on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the ThedaCare Medical Center of Shawano. He was born to William (Bill) and Esther (Kaat) Maersch on Sept. 24, 1936, in Sheboygan.

Bill was baptized, made his First Communion, and was confirmed at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan. On July 15, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Roewardt at the same church. He graduated from Central High School, Sheboygan; Sheboygan County Teachers College, Sheboygan Falls; and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science degree, grades 1-8; and a license in art education, grades 1-12. He also received a scholarship to attend Bemidji State College, Minnesota, for one summer.

Arlene Hearn

The eternal spirit of Arlene Hearn (nee Brunner) left her body and crossed over to the other side on Jan. 8 after a productive 90 years this lifetime on Earth. She was born to Rolley and Barbara (Pevonka) Brunner on Dec. 6, 1925, and spent her childhood growing up on the family farm near Leopolis, attending the Seneca School and then Shawano High School.

Arlene married Leroy (aka Strike) Allhiser in 1947; they divorced in 1961. She married Thomas Hearn in 1968 and had a wonderful and adventure-filled life working together, travelling and building many distinctive houses until his death in 2000. Building and decorating homes was a passion they both shared.

Joanne G. Busch

Joanne Gail Busch, 71, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, in Shawano. Joanne was born in Oconto Falls on Sept. 14, 1944, the daughter of the late Henry and Nora (Gallagher) Belke. She was united in marriage to August G. Busch Jr. on May 15, 1965, in Oconto Falls. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 2001.

Joanne worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Gillett nursing home until her retirement. She was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett and enjoyed spending time with her dog, Kookie.

Joanne is survived by her children, Laura (Vince) Weier and Tim (Katie) Busch, both of Cecil; one grandson, Wyatt; her brother, Myles (Jean) Belke, of Bonduel; and two sisters, Elaine Schenk, of Shawano, and Judy (Anthony) Wegner, of Cecil.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August; her parents; and three brothers, Richard, Wayne and Mike.
