Rosemary E. Bonifay, 87, of Wauwautosa, formerly of Clintonville, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Wellspring of Milwaukee. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville, is assisting the family.

Jay A. Rusch

Jay A. Rusch, 48, of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 22, 2016, at his home in Shawano.

Jay was born April 27, 1967, in Shawano, a son of Dennis and Rita (Doran) Rusch. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Shawano High School, graduating in 1985. Following school, he was employed at Carver Yachts in Pulaski for over 17 years. He was currently employed at Woodport Doors in Shawano as a machine operator.

Jay was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and kayaking. He also enjoyed collecting unique outdoor items as well as wood carving. He was always up for spending time with his family and a good bonfire. He was a skilled harmonica player.

Myrtle S. Bork

Myrtle S. Bork, 72, of the town of Pella, Shawano County, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at her home.

The former Myrtle Sharon Bierman was born on Nov. 3, 1943, in Shawano to Charles and Leovana (Baker) Bierman. She was united in marriage on Jan. 29, 1959, to Garret P. Bork in Shawano. The couple lived in the Tilleda area for close to 18 years and in the early 1980s settled in the town of Pella.

Myrtle worked at Weber Veneer & Plywood Co. in Shawano for 11 years. Then she was employed for 23 years at the Shawano Paper Mill – Little Rapids. She retired in 2005.

Myrtle was an excellent cook and liked to entertain for large family gatherings. She also liked working in her flower gardens, and enjoyed going to the casino and creating beautiful ceramic gifts.

Myrtle will be remembered most for her love and happiness of family and friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Jody W. Smith

Jody W. Smith, “The Pipemaker,” 63, of Antigo, passed away on April 21, 2016, in Birnamwood.

Jody was born on July 10, 1952, in Wausau, the son of Betty Lou (Wesco) Hafemann and the late Wilson Smith. After high school, he served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.

Jody was united in marriage to Colleen Lynn Briggs on Feb. 26, 1972, in Eland. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2013. He worked as a police officer for Keshena, Shawano and Stockbridge, and enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and wood carving.

Mavis L. Wells

Mavis Lucille (Hafferman) Wells, 82, passed away on April 21, 2016, in Kenosha. She was born in Shawano to the late John and Elba (Wockenfus) Hafferman on Feb. 26, 1934.

Mavis resided in Shawano and Bowler, and graduated from Bowler High School in 1952. After high school, she attended various technical schools for shorthand and computer training in Milwaukee.

Marjorie A. Ainsworth

Marjorie A. (Mrs. John) Ainsworth, 76, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at her home.

Marjorie was born on Sept. 17, 1939, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Edwin and Margaret (Schmidt) Ready. On Sept. 30, 1961, in Leopolis, Marjorie was united in marriage to John H. Ainsworth.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Leopolis. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home on Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Ruth E. Wood

Ruth E. Wood, 98, of Marshfield, formerly of Clintonville, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2016, in Marshfield. She was born on Nov. 13, 1917, in Marinette, the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Charlotte (Dunn) Fitzpatrick.

Ruth was united in marriage to Richard J. Wood on Oct. 24, 1938, in Marinette. They had one son, Kenneth J. Wood, of Marshfield. She worked for Bell Telephone/AT&T for 50 years in Marinette, Oconto, Milwaukee and Appleton, retiring in 1975. She and Richard moved to Pella in 1960 and ran the Pine Tree Inn for many years.

After Richard’s death in 2001, Ruth lived in Clintonville before moving to Marshfield in 2013. Ruth was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Leopolis and the Altar Society.

Wayne W. Verhein

Wayne W. Verhein, 82, of the town of Wescott, Shawano, passed away on Friday evening, April 15, 2016, at Crossroads Care Center in Weyauwega.

Wayne was born on July 3, 1933, in Milwaukee, a son of the late August and Edna (Baum) Verhein. He attended school in Milwaukee and later attended Bay View High School. Following school he entered the United States Army. He served from 1953 until 1955, serving in the Armored Division. Upon returning from service, he worked at the Heil Company in Milwaukee, where he met the love of his life, Geraldine Olsen. The couple was united in marriage on July 13, 1956, in Milwaukee. Geraldine preceded him in death on March 16, 2002.

Following their marriage the couple remained in Milwaukee. Along with working at the Heil Company, where he was a member of Operating Engineers 1398, Wayne also worked construction, and at County Stadium as a vendor. The couple owned and operated Verhein’s Place until retiring and moving to Shawano in 1982.

Dennison L. Dickenson

Dennison Lee Dickenson, 73, of Neopit, entered the spirit world on Monday, April 18, 2016, in Appleton. Born on June 30, 1942, in Keshena, he was the son of the late Samuel and Josephine (Peters) Dickenson.

Dennison was united in marriage to Irene Wilber on May 7, 1966, in Gresham. He was employed in Wausau as a welder/hydraulics specialist for Drott Manufacturing and J.I. Case until retiring in 1992 at the age of 49. He enjoyed the outdoors, snowmobiling and bear hunting. He loved horses and, in his early years, he enjoyed racing horses at the Menominee County Fair. He was also an early participant in the Shawano stock car races, racing car No. 104. For many years he trained and mentored many young Menominee boxers while coaching with the Menominee Indian Boxing Club. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit.

Dennison was the most easy-going, helpful person you could ever meet.

Wayne W. Verhein

Wayne W. Verhein, 82, of the town of Wescott, Shawano, passed away on Friday evening, April 15, 2016, at Crossroads Care Center in Weyauwega.

Funeral service arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date.
