Mary Hafemann

Mary Ruth Grace Hafemann, 97, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at her home. Mary was born in Shawano on April 27, 1919, the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Emma (Echtner) Jensen. She was a graduate of Shawano High School where she participated in band and shot-put. On June 3, 1944, she married Karl E. Hafemann. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1997. Mary was employed at the Shawano Community Hospital for many years prior to having children. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano and a tenor in the church choir for many years. When her children were young, she participated in the Lincoln School PTA. Throughout her life, her hobbies included fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, cooking, canning, making preserves, baking, ice skating, bowling, golfing, genealogy, bird watching, and nature conservation. She was a member of the Shawano Tree Committee, the Shawano Conservation Association and the Sweet Adelines, among others.

Cletus Van Treeck

Cletus Van Treeck, 85, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016. A full obituary will run in Friday’s paper.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Dolores Radomski

Dolores Radomski, 88, of Shawano, formerly of South Milwaukee, passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 18, 2016, at Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass.

Funeral service arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Ronald O. Robaidek

Ronald O. Robaidek, 77, Angelica. He died.

This is what Ron would have told you he wanted for his obituary. He felt he was “a man of few words.” However, anyone who knew him knew otherwise. Ron died peacefully on Oct. 15, 2016, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home. The son of the late Virgilla and Julius Robaidek was born on Feb. 28, 1939, in Angelica.

Ron graduated from Pulaski High School in 1956. On June 17, 1961, he married Janice VanLannen. A wonderful marriage began that day. Two beautiful people joined as one who worked together to make living fun; two partners in life in both work and play. The couple raised their family, ran a dairy farm, and owned a farm equipment and silo business, Robaidek Silo Inc. He was a Jamesway dealer and won several awards for his sales achievements and his contributions to the agricultural industry. Ron sold the business and retired in 2004.

Albert H. Spiegel

Albert H. Spiegel, 99, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016. He was born on May 2, 1917, in Tigerton, the son of Albert and Anna (Fuhrman) Spiegel.

Albert graduated from Tigerton High School and Green Bay Business College. He was employed by Morning Glory Dairy Foods beginning in 1936 and retired in 1982 as treasurer of that company. On Oct. 18, 1941, while in the service of his country, he married Ebba Winther, and they became the parents of three children.

Karen H. Heller

Karen Henrietta Heller, 65, of Crivitz, passed away on Oct. 16, 2016. Born on Feb. 4, 1951, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (Przekurat) Scheer.

Karen grew up in Chicago and at the age of 17 moved to Pulaski, where she graduated from Pulaski High School.

On Nov. 13, 1971, Karen was united in marriage to Michael Heller in Bonduel. She and Mike enjoyed traveling together. Some of her favorite trips took her to Disney, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon and Graceland. More than anything she loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family.

Richard K. Brunson

Richard K. Brunson, 85, Green Bay, died on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016. He was born on Dec. 3, 1930, in Eau Claire to the late John and Mary (Kresmery) Brunson. On June 4, 1951, he married Lenice Williams in Eau Claire.

Richard was employed as a middle school teacher in Shawano and later was employed by the state of Wisconsin. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lenice; two daughters, Catherine (Richard) Bartels, of Marinette, and Kimberly Brunson, of Appleton; one grandson, Adam (Rachael) Starks; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Carmen and Hunter; and two brothers, Carl and Harold.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul, and a sister-in-law, Betty.

Treyan Mocodeanu

Treyan Mocodeanu, 62, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, in Shawano.

Treyan was born on May 4, 1954, in Chicago, the son of the late Ilie and Gertrude (Frankler) Mocodeanu. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. On July 15, 2004, he was united in marriage to RoseAnn (Terry) Calderon and resided in Shawano since their marriage.

He is survived by his wife, RoseAnn; three children, Alexandra Mocodeanu, Rosalind (Ken) McKennon and William R. (Beth) Calderon III; one grandson, William R. Calderon IV; his siblings, Roxanne (Rainer) Weinberg, George (Mary) Mocodeanu and Angie Mocodeanu.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Viola Mocodeanu.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of the service.

Miles L. Boerst

Miles Louis Boerst, 57, was born on Sept. 4, 1959, to Myron and Linda Boerst. He passed away on Oct. 15, 2016, at home with family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Myron, and sister, Jennifer Heling.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; daughter, Lindsay (husband Eric) Davis; granddaughter, Kylee Davis; mother, Linda; brothers, Mike and Mark (wife Debbie); brother in-law, Dohn Heling; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Miles enjoyed gardening, hunting, grilling, spending quality time with family and joking around. He also very much enjoyed playing with Cocoa (the grand puppy) and meeting his granddaughter Kylee and hearing new stories about her.

William G. Laehn

William George Laehn, also known as “Cold Water Bill,” died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at Homme Home in Wittenberg. He was born in Shawano on Feb. 16, 1930, to Herman and Minna (Duwe) Laehn.

Bill graduated from Shawano High School in 1948. In 1950, he joined the U.S. Navy and served four years in the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Jean Alft, on Aug. 26, 1951, and they had six children.

Bill’s faith was important to him, and he was very involved in his church. At family mealtime prayers, he thanked God for his family and regularly said, “I am such a lucky man. God has blessed me with a loving wife and children.”
