Man accused of trying to run down officer

A Clintonville man, accused of trying to hit a Shawano police officer with a vehicle during a Jan. 15 incident, will be arraigned in the case Jan. 31.

Kevin J. Hogg, 36, 200 E. Morning Glory Dr., #102, has been charged with the unlawful use of a telephone for a threat, carrying a concealed weapon and first degree recklessly endangering the safety of another person.

Cecil teen nominated to West Point

Bonduel High School senior Zach Sumnicht was recently nominated by Rep. Mark Green for appointment to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. He is the first BHS student to achieve such an honor. This school display case houses the accomplishments of the football teams he played on and the individual honors he earned, including membership to the 1,000 Yard Club.

Hawks too hot for New London

NEW LONDON Rebounding from back-to-back Bay Conference losses the Shawano boys basketball team dominated New London Tuesday night in their 64-27 win. The Hawks used their huge height advantage and a barrage of three pointers to make easy work in their 37-point win.

The Hawks opened the game with their customary Blake Olson three pointer and never trailed the entire way. Olson had the hot hand for the Hawks with fourth three pointers on his way to 16 points in the game. The Hawks had seven total three pointers in the win.

Hawks keep home streak alive

SHAWANO The Shawano girls basketball team remained unbeaten at home this season with a 46-34 win over New London Tuesday night in Bay Conference action. The Hawks opened the game with an 11-5 run and never looked back taking the 12-point win.

Shawano held a six-point lead heading into the second period and looked to cruising, but New London was staying close in the second period. After a hard-fought second quarter the Hawks still clung to a five-point lead at the half.

SCHS Pom Pon squad earns trip to state

After placing fifth out of 14 teams at regionals Saturday, the Shawano Community High School Pom Pon squad will be working hard for the next two weeks, like they did after school Monday, as they prepare for the state competition Feb. 5.

The energy never dies with the Shawano Community High School Pom Pon squad. Whether it's a practice after school, the half-time show of a boys basketball game, or a weekend competition, the 19-member crew gives 110 percent.
