Gasoline prices hit all time high

Don Raddant of the Shawano Shell station on E. Green Bay Street changed the sign advertising gas prices Wednesday afternoon. The price of gas in Shawano went up about a nickel at most stations around town, as fuel supplies around the nation continue to tighten.

Student charges with pointing toy gun at teacher

Leader Reporter

A student from Shawano Community High School will make an initial appearance in Shawano County Court March 13 on a charge that he pointed a cap pistol at a teacher while in a classroom Feb. 9.

According to the criminal complaint, the teacher was unaware if the cap pistol was a toy or a real gun when it was allegedly pointed by the student, 16-year-old Troy A. Fowler of 620 Hamlin St., Shawano.

Hodkiewicz named race director at speedway

HODKIEWICZ NAMED RACE DIRECTOR AT SHAWANO SPEEDWAY

Dale Hodkiewicz, who through the years has been associated with the weekly races at the Shawano Speedway as a fan, a race team member and a member of the Fair Board, has been named the track's race director for the 2000 season.

Hodkiewicz, who assumed the duties in the middle of January, takes over for Mike Babino Sr., who decided to step down from that position.

Packers sign defensive end John Thierry

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) Defensive end John Thierry, a former first-round draft pick and the sacks leader for the Cleveland Browns last season, signed Wednesday with the Green Bay Packers.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Thierry was the 11th player taken when drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1994. He went to Cleveland as a free agent a year ago and had a career-high seven sacks last season, starting the final seven games.

Hawks finish regular season with big win

SHAWANO The Shawano girls basketball team picked up a big win at home Tuesday night beating Seymour 42-34 in Bay Conference action to close out their regular season on a winning note. The Hawks started and finished strong in the eight-point win.
