SCHS production offers 10 tales

The Shawano Community High School drama department isn't just presenting one play for this year's winter production, but a series of them.

By using a selection of stories from the Grimm Brothers and Aesop's fables, director Drew Wimmer is using nearly 30 students to tell 10 tales for a production he calls "Story Theatre."

"It's different than anything I've ever done," said junior Molly Marlier. "Instead of just one story, you get 10. That's why I like it."

Marion man hurt in sled crash

A Marion man is in critical condition at a Fox Valley hospital after he was injured in a Sunday morning snowmobile accident in the Waupaca County Town of Larrabee.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department, at about 1:30 a.m. a snowmobile being operated by 48-year-old Steve Norder, was east bound on a public snowmobile trail about a half-mile east of Highway 22/45 near Reinke Road, when he lost control after hitting a raised area on the trail.

Hawks come back to beat West DePere

WEST DEPERE The Shawano girls basketball team recovered from an eight-point first half deficit in the final period to beat Bay Conference foe West DePere 56-47 Saturday night. The Hawks went 12-of-16 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to pull ahead of the Phantoms for the nine-point win.

Fire on Ice racing at midway point

CECIL The Fire On Ice Auto Racing Club drivers gathered on Shawano Lake Sunday afternoon as they reached the midpoint of their racing season. Entering the racing action Travis Reidell, Ward Peterson Jr. and Dennis Clark were leading their respective divisions.
