Progress 2000: Crawford anticipates sale of Timbco will mean more growth for Shawano

Timbco Hydraulics of Shawano keeps a steady pace of completing one of their timber feller buncher machines a day or about six every week. Here one of the plant employees is seen putting some finishing touches on one of the machines as they prepare it for the day. It could be shipped to any worldwide location where they harvest timber in difficult places and under difficult circumstances.

Low bidder on landfill project may fight board

Despite threatened legal action, Shawano County supervisors Wednesday, approved two resolutions that allow a planned expansion of the county's landfill to proceed.

Peters Concrete of Green Bay has threatened legal action after the county's solid waste management board has recommended, that despite Peters Concrete having the apparent low bid of $703,954 to expand the landfill, that the bid be awarded to Riverview Construction of Wausau, who had the second lowest bid of $704,137.

Store owner boand over for trial on bank robbery

Two people accused of being involved in the Oct. 11, 1999, armed robbery of the First State Bank in Cecil, made separate appearances Wednesday in Shawano County Circuit.

Darrell G. Tachick, the owner of the Cecil Citgo Convenience Store, was bound over for trial by Judge Thomas Grover after a Wednesday preliminary hearing. He will be arraigned April 3 on charges of bank robbery and burglary while armed.

Clintonville man gets 3 years in prison for trying to run down SPD officer

A Clintonville man, convicted of trying to strike a Shawano Police officer with a vehicle during a Jan. 15, incident, was sentenced Wednesday to a minimum of three years in prison.

Kevin J. Hogg, 36, of 200 E. Morning Glory Dr., #102, entered no contest pleas last month to charges of first degree reckless endangerment and attempted aggravated battery in the case.

Shawano hoopsters place second at Gillett

GILLETT The Shawano fifth grade boys basketball team closed out its season this past weekend with a second place finish in the Gillett Hoopster Tournament.

The tournament capped off a very successful season for the young hoopsters as they placed first in the Stevens Point Tournament, second at Gillett and Freedom, third at Pulaski and fourth at Wausau.
