<p style="text-align:center;">Sacred Heart Catholic School</p><p>Sacred Heart Catholic School is celebrating two anniversaries this year: the 130th year of Catholic education in Shawano and the 50th year of classes in our current building.</p><p>This school year we welcome three new staff members. Julie Gurta is teaching seventh- and eighth-grade math, as well as music for preschool through eighth grade, and band for fifth-eighth grade.

Community foundation seeks grant applicants

The Shawano Area Community Foundation is accepting grant applications from area nonprofit organizations for up to $5,000 until Oct. 1.

Shawano Area Fund grants are made for a broad range of purposes to a wide variety of charitable organizations in the focus areas of arts and culture, community development, education, environment, and health and human services.

Grant applications are available at www.shawanofoundation.org under "grants/nonprofits."

Mike Felten coming to Classic's

A veteran of rock, country and blues who has toured all over the nation will share some of his original tunes and stories Friday.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Mike Felten will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight at Classic's Restaurant and Lounge, W6026 Lake Drive.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->"I started playing guitar in the 1960s with the big upheaval of the British invasion," Felten said.

Mike Felten coming to Classic's

Mike Felten will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight at Classic's Restaurant and Lounge, W6026 Lake Drive.

"I started playing guitar in the 1960s with the big upheaval of the British invasion," Felten said. "Playing music was part of growing up for our generation and I kept at it."

Gresham goes back to the farm

<p>Gresham will celebrate its agricultural heritage, promote local farms and provide residents the opportunity to purchase seasonal produce during Farm Heritage Day this Saturday.</p><p>The Gresham FFA Alumni, along with current local FFA members, sponsor and organize the event.</p><p>"The goal of this event is to educate and entertain people through demonstrations of past farming practices and just make them more aware of our farming heritage," said Jeff Zobeck, FFA adviser at Gresham Community School.
