College Highlights

Zook helps Bobcats on recent surge

The Bryant & Stratton college softball team has enjoyed a strong last week on the field, going 5-1 since March 29. Shawano Community High School graduate Brianna Zook has been a big part of that success.

In a 16-6 win over Gogebic Community College on March 29, Zook singled, doubled and walked, driving in three runs along the way. In the second game of the doubleheader, she doubled twice, walked once, scored three runs and drove in another.

Zook then helped the Bobcats to a sweep of Bay College on March 30. In a 17-9 game one victory, she scored three runs, doubled, walked and drove in two runs. In a tight 12-11 game two win, she doubled two more times, walked once and scored three more runs.

In a doubleheader split with Wisconsin Lutheran College, Zook had a hit in a 5-4 game one win. She doubled twice and drove in two runs in an 8-7 loss in game two.

Hoffman shines in doubleheader sweep

Gresham graduate Mackenzie Hoffman had a day to remember as her Edgewood College softball team swept Silver Lake College on Wednesday.

In two at-bats in a 24-1 game one win, Hoffman had a hit and scored two runs. In a 23-0 game two victory, she posted two hits, drove in three runs and scored twice across four at-bats.

Pedersen produces in limited action

Bonduel graduate Kailee Pedersen played in both games of the St. Scholastica softball team’s doubleheader sweep over Martin Luther on March 31.

As a pinch runner in a 6-4 game one win, she scored a run. Pedersen got three at-bats in a 7-2 game two win, singling once.

Pietz scores in 400

Wittenberg-Birnamwood graduate Maddy Pietz helped the Winona State women’s track and field team to a second-place finish at the Emporia State University Relays on March 30.

Pietz placed eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 2.48 seconds. She was just 0.02 seconds out of placing seventh and about two seconds behind the fourth-place finisher.
