Here is a look at some of the top performances in the area over the past week:

Kody Szews — Wittenberg-Birnamwood boys basketball

The senior has guided the Chargers to a 3-0 start to the winter season. Szews most recently scored 19 points during Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s 62-39 over Tomahawk on Tuesday. Back on Nov. 27, he scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds to help the team past Wisconsin Valley Lutheran.

Kayla Pecore — Bowler girls basketball

The junior converted a layup with four seconds left to help Bowler stun Tigerton in an overtime thriller on Tuesday. In the contest, Pecore totaled 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals. In a loss to Menominee Indian on Nov. 29, Pecore recorded a team-high 13 points.

Wyatt Brandt — Shawano wrestling

The sophomore wrestler opened his season strong by going 5-0 at the Oconto Invitational on Saturday. Brandt earned three wins by pin on the day while also earning an 11-3 major decision win an a 6-2 decision win in the first place match. All of his pins came in under two minutes.

Menom Powless — Menominee Indian boys basketball

The junior guard has the Eagles rolling to start the season. Powless scored a game-high 26 points in a lopsided win over Tigerton on Monday. He also had a game-high 20 points against Marion last Friday. He tallied 12 points in a victory over Crandon back on Nov. 27.

Erin Viergutz — Clintonville girls basketball

The junior has been a force for the Truckers early on this season. Viergutz tallied 20 points and six rebounds in a loss to Little Chute on Tuesday. She contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Wrightstown on Nov. 27.
