A time frame for placing and removing garbage and recycling containers was set Tuesday by the Clintonville Common Council.

The council approved an ordinance that will regulate the placement and removal time of the garbage and recycling carts. According to the ordinance, carts must be placed out for collection no earlier than 6:30 a.m. on the day prior to collection day. Carts must be removed from the right-of-way no later than 10 a.m. the day after collection.

“It has gotten better lately,” said Mayor Richard Beggs, who had earlier stated that he thought some of the carts were being left out too long at the curb.

Beginning Nov. 1, residents in the city who the garbage and recycling service will see increase in the cost for that service. The increase from $120 to $132.58 per year was approved by the council on Sept. 11.

The increase was recommended by the finance committee. City Administrator Sharon Eveland said the city was notified by Harter’s Fox Valley Disposal that it would be increasing the charge to the city for the collection by 2 percent.
