RB off to strong start in his senior season

Athlete: Riddik Bohm

Sport: Football

The Bonduel football team has been no stranger to success over the past few years despite competing in a loaded Central Wisconsin Conference-Large Division. After an overtime win over Manawa on Thursday, Bonduel owns a 2-1 record overall and 1-0 mark in the conference. A big reason behind the team’s early success has been the play of senior running back Riddik Bohm, who has rushed for 387 yards and five touchdowns on just 38 carries so far. Bohm opened the year rushing for 110 yards and two scores against Coleman before tallying 249 yards and three touchdowns in a tight loss to Peshtigo. He toted the ball eight times for 28 yards against Manawa before leaving with an injury.

Q: When did your interest in football begin?

A: I got really into football after my first game of tackle football in fourth grade.

Q: What’s your favorite part about a football game or the football season?

A: I love running the ball, it’s been my favorite part about football since I was a little kid. Scoring touchdowns is cool too.

Q: You have enjoyed a really strong start to the year. What’s been the key to your success?

A: Well, it’s been a long time coming. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get good at something. I started devoting myself to the weight room when I was a freshman, and that’s really helped me to become the player I am today. I also couldn’t do it without all my teammates. Everyone playing together really makes my job easy.

Q: Talk about what its like having your cousin (Parker Bohm) as the starting quarterback and the one typically handing the ball to you?

A: It’s been pretty cool. We’ve been playing together ever since I can remember. We’ve also been very competitive towards each other so it helps us get better as we push each other to be the best we can be.

Q: What’s your favorite memory of competing on the Bonduel football team?

A My favorite memory is easily beating Iola-Scandinavia last year. We were picked to lose, but we went in and handled them. We won Team of the Week on WisSports, so that made it even cooler.

Q: Do you have any rituals you go through before a football game?

A: Not really, I put on my headphones and just go into my own world. Everyone thinks I’m in a bad mood, but I’m just trying to get into my zone.

Q: Do you look up to any particular athletes? If so, why them?

A: I really like Bo Jackson. He was way before my time but just watching highlights and documentaries about him have always interested me. He’s just seemed larger than life, a true athlete.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do when you are not in school or competing in a high school sport?

A: Outside of school and sports, I don’t really do much. I work a lot and hang out with my friends.

Q: Favorite TV show, movie, musical artist?

A: “Bates Motel,” the whole “Fast and the Furious” series, and Big Sean or Drake.

Q: Name one thing about yourself that not many people know.

A: Something that most people don’t know about me is that I love chicken Alfredo. If I could eat it for every meal for the rest of my life, I would.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote, verse, or lyrics from a song?

A: Self-belief and hard work will always earn you success.
