BOYS SOCCER

Ripon 1

Clintonville 0

The Truckers opened their season dropping a tight road clash to the Tigers.

Ripon scored the contest’s lone goal in the 64th minute. Alberto Dominguez made 15 saves to help Clintonville stay in the game.

“Presley Rosenow anchored our defense which played very well,” Clintonville coach Chadwick Dobbe said. “Our offense had plenty of chances, but just couldn’t find a way to score.”

VOLLEYBALL

Menominee Indian tops Phelps and Gresham

The Eagles got their season off to a strong start by taking down Phelps (25-14, 25-16) and Gresham (25-15, 25-23).

“We still have a lot to work on and improve on but overall I was happy with the way we played,” Menominee Indian coach Jackson Miller said. “The girls seemed a little nervous in the first game but by the end of the day they loosened up and started to relax and have more fun while playing. We play so much better when we keep the positive energy going and just have fun playing volleyball so that’s something I really try to stress in the huddle.”
