New barn dance at Bike the Barn Quilts fundraiser

A new barn dance will kick off the sixth annual Bike the Barn Quilts Ride, which will be sponsored by Shawano Pathways at the end of September.

The event features bike rides of distances ranging from 5 to 70 miles on the morning of Sept. 29 at Memorial Park, along with a free 5K walk/run — all of which are designed to be recreational and family-friendly. Bikers, walkers and runners of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. The $25 biker registration fee includes a continental breakfast, participation incentive, lunch, maps, signed routes, food and water stations, SAG vehicles and music. There is a discounted rate for families.

The 5K walk/run will be along the Mountain Bay Trail. Runners will receive a free T-shirt with preregistration or with a $25 pledge.

After the athletic events, participants are encouraged to return to the park to enjoy vendors, raffles, silent auctions and other sales items. Bike the Barn Quilts is the premier event for Shawano Pathways, which encourages people to get out and enjoy the trails and outdoor recreational opportunities in Shawano County. They are also collecting pledges at this event to benefit SAM25 and the local Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations.
