Nature center plans two day camps

Navarino Nature Center will be holding two day camps next week.

The Raging Raptors Day Camp will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. This day camp will offer participants the chance to meet and interact with real birds of prey.

Day campers will also be able to create different crafts, participate in bird watching and become a raptor with the help of face paint. To end their day, they will witness live birds of prey up close.

The nature center will host its Bigfoot and Beasts Day Camp from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The day will be filled by exploring mysterious creatures that are speculated to dwell within the world.

From Bigfoot to the Yeti to Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster and many more, participants will have the chance to search for these mysterious creatures and create cool crafts about these beasts that may call Navarino home.

Children ages 3-4 are welcome to attend the day camps with a chaperone, and children 5-10 can attend without a chaperone. The cost is $40 per camp for members and $45 for nonmembers.

The nature center also plans to host a birds of prey presentation for the general public at noon on Thursday. A local rehabilitator in Appleton will bring a variety of live raptors and talk about them. Registration is recommended by calling 715-758-6999. The cost is $10 per person, $15 families.

Call 715-758-6999 for information and to RSVP, or visit the nature center at www.navarino.org or on Facebook.
