The Embarrass Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Fun Daze celebration will feature a parade, craft and flea market, live entertainment and many other family-friendly events on its 30th anniversary on July 28.

Fun Daze will kick off with the eighth annual Fun Daze Craft and Flea Market, held next to Zimdar’s Plumbing & Heating. Any local vendors are welcome to participate, as there is no cost to display nor space limitations, said Jeannine Rush, market coordinator.

“The market offers a large variety of crafts, including anything from succulent gardens, to jewelry, to bird houses,” Rush said.

For seller space or more information, call Rush at 715-823-3655. The market will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hard Core Fitness will put on the FIRE Fun Daze Fitness Challenge at 8:30 a.m. There are separate divisions for boys, girls, men and women, and anyone over the age of 12 is welcome to participate. Participants can register at active.com.

“This challenge is geared to the theme, the challenge includes putting on a fireman suit and trying to pull the firetruck. It will be a lot of fun,” said Dana Moehring, owner of Hard Core Fitness.

A blind man’s volleyball tournament will begin at 9 a.m. To enter the tournament, contact Korth’s Badger Tap at 715-823-3047.

The annual parade, starting on the east end of town and proceeding down Main Street to state Highway 22, will begin at 11 a.m.

Darrell Polzin will be honored as this year’s parade marshal for his 51 years of service to the department. He was elected chief in 1979, and served as that position until his recent retirement.

There will be cash prizes for the best entry in the four catagories: most original, most humorous, best commercial and best club or church organization.

To register, contact John Schertz at 715-823-2033 or email schertzj@excite.com.

A plethora of events will be held at Fireman’s Park following the parade. Food and refreshments are available all day.

The first Pinewood Derby Race will take place from noon-3:00 p.m.

The garden tractor pull will start at 2 p.m. Contact Scott Mares at 920-250-1966 for more information.

“The competition is divided by weight and engine size. The track is on blacktop and is approximately 280 feet long. A lot of people like following the event every year,” said Mares, organizer of the tractor pull.

The sixth annual Doubles Bag Toss Tournament will start at 2 p.m. Sign-ups for the tournament end at 1 p.m. the day of the event.

Live music will accompany Fun Daze. Lovin’ Country will perform from noon to 4 p.m. Led West will entertain the crowd from 7-11 p.m.

Proceeds from Fun Daze will go towards a number of fire department activities, including updating equipment, training and the care and maintenance of Fireman’s Park.
