Jean M. Kupper

Jean M. Kupper, 71, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Appleton following a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Jean was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Algoma, daughter of the late James and Marian (Wos) Hoffman. Jean attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and later Shawano High School, graduating with the class of 1965. Following high school, Jean went to work at Citizens Bank in Shawano. She then went to work at Appleton State Bank for a brief period of time. Jean returned to Shawano and worked at the Urban Telephone Company until she was offered the position of office manager at the Shawano Super Valu Store. On March 13, 1971, she was united in marriage to Curt Kupper at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Most recently, Jean had worked part-time at Shawano Middle School and Shawano High School in the kitchen. She truly enjoyed working with the children.

Jean is a member of St. James Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included golfing, crafts, reading, and bowling. At home she loved baking and sewing. For the last five years, Jean and Kurt had enjoyed winters in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The couple had a wonderful life together.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 47 years, Curt, of Shawano; her siblings, James Hoffman Jr. and Richard (Dianne) Hoffman, both of Green Bay, Ronald (Sharon) Hoffman and Roger (Kathleen) Hoffman, both of Shawano, Carl (LuAnn) Hoffman, of East Dubuque, Illinois, and Ken (Sallijo) Hoffman, of Shawano; her sister-in-law, Karen Kupper, of Shawano; two special nieces, Samantha (Tim) Lundt and Corrina (John) Moses; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Janet Hoffman, and her brother-in-law, Ron Kupper.

A funeral service for Jean M. Kupper will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. The Rev. Dr. Timm Griffin will officiate. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Memorials are preferred to the St. James Radio Fund.
