Makai Matthew Albrecht “Ceexjii Ska”

Makai M. Albrecht, 12, of Bowler, was born to eternal life on Thursday, June 7, 2018, in Green Bay, surround by his family. Makai was born in Antigo on Aug. 2, 2005, the son of Shane Albrecht and Correne Roth. When he was 2, his family moved to Montana, returning to Wisconsin when he was 6. Makai played hard and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed little boy activities, trucks, riding bikes, as well as trying to keep his big sister in line, swimming by the lake, especially Jack’s Dock at Flathead Lake – Elmo, Montana – until his diagnosis of X-ALD. He was baptized into the Native American Church-Wittenberg Chapter and received his spiritual name, Ceexjii Ska, meaning White Buffalo. Makai was an innocent, lovable, strong and courageous young man and was the family’s “Super Hero.”

Makai is survived by his father, Shane (Teresa) Albrecht; his mother, Correne Roth; siblings, Mignon, Shayla, Ja’Nae, Daysia, Dominic, Destiney and Cyllis; paternal grandparents, Pamela Vele and Grant Albrecht; maternal grandparents, Corwin (Melanie) Roth and Marcella Burke; and his aunt, Patricia (Claude) Merckes. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Traditional services were held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018, until noon on Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Native American Church-Wittenberg Chapter with Lorenzo Funmaker officiating. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating and visitation starting at noon until the time of the service. Burial is in Red Springs Cemetery.
