Shawano Area Waterways Management will hold its fundraiser of the year Tuesday with a golf outing at the Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil.

“This is the outing of the year,” said SAWM board member Tony Zielinski. “It creates money to support Shawano Lake and the Wolf River.”

Those who put the event together are volunteering their time and prizes have been donated, which means all the money raised will be put to use in the interests of Shawano area waterways.

“It goes 100 percent to SAWM as custodian of Shawano Lake and the Wolf River,” Zielinski said.

There are already some 140 people signed up for the event, but anyone else wanting to participate can register on site.

“We won’t turn anybody away,” Zielinski said.

In addition to a day of golf and a dinner, participants will have an opportunity to win $10,000 in prizes.

“Everybody will have a chance to win,” Zielinski said.

Prizes include an ATV provided by American Marine and a jet ski provided by Prime Sports.

Those who score a hole-in-one can win as much as $8,000.

“It’s going to be an awesome day,” Zielinski said.

He added that participants don’t necessarily have to be golfers.

“Just show up and enjoy it,” he said.

The event is open to all, including non-SAWM members. Those wishing to can join SAWM for a fee of $50.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the golf course, 300 Nabor Road, Cecil.

There will be a scramble event at 11:30 a.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.

The entry fee is $100 per person. For those who just want to come for dinner, the price is $25 per person.
