Chamber members honored for their service

An opportunity to get involved

Each year, the Wittenberg Area Chamber of Commerce hosts a banquet to recap the year and honor those who were instrumental in its success.

This year’s event, held Feb. 10 at the Best Western Inn, included the departure of two board members. Kristeanna Crick and Zach Popp had each served on the board for three years.

Chamber President Travis Rose congratulated and thanked them for their service.

“Like any other volunteer organization, we depend on the help the board and chamber members can offer,” Rose said.

Crick worked for Homme Home of Wittenberg during most of her time on the board.

“I had just moved to Wittenberg and into a job with the Homme Foundation. Being on the board got me connected to area businesses,” she said.

Crick said she would have stayed on longer, but she recently took a job as an event coordinator at Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center in Rothschild.

Popp, who works at Northcentral Technical College, is leaving the board as he pursues other opportunities.

“Just having the opportunity to promote businesses and serve the community was important to me,” he said. “In a small area like this, it’s important to always be promoting.”

Rose also highlighted some of the area’s improvements in his comments at the banquet, including expansions at Nueske’s and Wittenberg Ho-Chunk that have generated growth throughout the area, he said.

The chamber has updated its website, and Rose encouraged businesses to add to the community calendar to promote events.

Rose also congratulated Sally Jo Stevens and the Best Western Inn for being recognized by the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce as its Small Business of the Year.

With the departure of Crick and Popp, the chamber is seeking two new board members. The board meets at 8 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month at various locations.
