2 Colorado men arrested after shooting

Charges were expected to be filed Monday against two Colorado men in connection with the shooting of a 31-year-old Shawano woman early Saturday, according to the Shawano Police Department.

Police responded to a report of shots fired outside an apartment building at 1024 E. Fifth St. shortly before 3:40 a.m. Saturday.

The victim was taken to ThedaCare Medical Center–Shawano with life-threatening injuries. She is still hospitalized and is expected to recover, police said.

Shortly after noon Saturday, a 20-year-old Denver, Colorado, man was taken into custody without incident outside a residence in the Middle Village area of the Menominee Indian Reservation. The man was transported to the Shawano County Jail and is being held on a felony warrant out of Colorado.

A second person, a 22-year-old Denver man, was also taken into custody without incident at the same time. That person was transported to the Menominee Tribal Jail and is being held on several felony warrants from Colorado and a Menominee Tribal warrant.

A firearm believed to have been used during the offense was recovered.

Shawano Police Chief Dan Mauel said authorities believe they have arrested everyone involved in the incident.

Charges were expected to be referred to the district attorney’s office Monday.

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Menominee County Sheriff’s Department and Menominee Tribal Police assisted with the investigation.
