2 in custody in shooting incident

Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting of a 31-year-old Shawano woman early Saturday, according to the Shawano Police Department.

Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of East Fifth Street shortly before 3:40 a.m. Saturday.

The victim was taken to ThedaCare Medical Center–Shawano with life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after noon, two people were taken into custody regarding the incident.

"At this time we feel we have all of the people involved," said Police Chief Dan Mauel.

No information was released regarding the two suspects. Additional details were expected Monday.

Mauel said in an earlier news release that the incident appeared to have been "targeted" and the general public was not in any danger.

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Menominee County Sheriff’s Department and Menominee Tribal Police are assisting with the investigation.
