Marion woman dies in mobile home fire

A mobile home fire in the city of Marion on Sunday claimed the life of a 71-year-old woman, according to police.

Preliminary autopsy results show that Judith A. Hurta succumbed to the effects of the fire at her residence. The cause of the fire is believed to have been electrical.

Marion police received a call at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday regarding a mobile home on fire at the Marion Hillside Mobile Home Park at 405 Bertram St.

The police department requested the Marion Area Fire Department be paged out for the fire. While en route a 911 call to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department was received and it was reported that the occupant was still inside the mobile home.

Upon arrival the occupant of the mobile home was located inside of the residence and deceased along with pets.

The incident was investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Waupaca County sheriff’s deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol, Clintonville Fire Department, and the Clintonville Area Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
