MISD seeking sponsors for April gala

With the help of dozens of sponsors and donors during the last five years, the Menominee Indian School District has raised more than $100,000 in scholarship money through its annual Scholarship Gala. As a result, scholarships have been given to 60 MISD graduates who are attending college or technical school.

Plans are now underway for the sixth annual MISD Scholarship Gala, which will take place from 5-9 p.m. April 13 at the Menominee Casino Resort.

The gala committee is now accepting sponsorships for the event, including event naming rights, dessert and entertainment sponsors, corporate table sponsors and meat wheel sponsors. The event features a dinner, raffles and auction items, and first-hand accounts from MIHS alumni on how their scholarships impacted their lives.

“Every year, the gala exceeds our expectations,” said MISD Superintendent Wendell Waukau, “and the students who benefit are so appreciative. It’s rewarding to know we’re helping students stay in school and focus on their education. In the long run, it’s not only helping them, it’s also helping our community because, after college, many of these students return to the area. I want to thank everyone who contributes to this effort and encourage area businesses to get involved.”
