The Shawano wrestling team came up short against West De Pere in a Bay Conference matchup on Thursday night.

The Phantoms defeated the Hawks 42-38 at Shawano Community High School in a dual that came down to the last match.

The Hawks had big pins from Gage Timm, who pinned Lucas Milheiser at 145 pounds, and Ben Carroll, who defeated Zach Soletski by fall at 138 pounds.

Shawano took the lead with a win by Crede Timm at 195 pounds over West De Pere’s Cody Cavil. Bryce Graef closed out the win for the Phantoms by pinning Shawano’s Keith Tourtillott in the 220-pound match.

“As a team, we have a lot of work to do, and as soon as we can start doing the little things right, we will be winning these close duals instead of coming up on the short end,” head coach Michael Homan said.
