Enrollment in the Clintonville Public School District dropped more than expected this year.

Business manager Lynette Edwards told the school board Monday that the official count taken Sept. 15 was 1,303 students, compared with 1,354 last year.

“Although I had projected a decline, it wasn’t quite by that much,” said Edwards, who had projected 1,329.

Interim Superintendent David Dyb said the 5-K numbers were down by 27 students from last year. He didn’t know why.

Edwards said open enrollments were “kind of a wash” compared to last year.

“Open enrollments in were down this year. Open enrollments out were down this year,” she said. “So those didn’t really affect the full-time equivalent like the head count would.”
