Marjorie J. Thimke

Marjorie Jean Thimke died 0n March 16 at Johanna Shores in St. Paul, Minnesota, surrounded by family members. She was born on Nov. 21, 1928, in Ashland to Howard and Violet (Mungovan) Tiffany.

Marjorie graduated from Hayward High School and continued her education in Duluth, Minnesota, completing a registered nurse program at St. Luke’s Hospital and obtaining the advanced level of nurse anesthetist. In Duluth, she met her future husband, Harry E. Thimke, whom she married on July 12, 1952. They moved to Iowa City, where Harry continued his medical training in anesthesiology.

In 1956, Marge and Harry moved to Eau Claire, where she lovingly engaged in raising their four daughters, Jane, Janet, Judith and Mary Jo.

Marge was an active member of the Luther Hospital Auxiliary, Trinity Lutheran Church, American Red Cross, PEO and the Alzheimer’s Association. She was a trusted friend, mentor and advocate, leading by example that it is better to give than receive, and that compassion, tolerance and humility bring joy!

After 57 years in Eau Claire, Marge and Harry moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, to be closer to family.

In addition to her four daughters, Marge is survived by six grandsons and her brother, Harold Tiffany.

A private memorial service has been held.

Memorials in Marge’s name may be made to the Hayward Humane Society, Eau Claire Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or Trinity Lutheran Church.
