Annabelle F. Hyrkas

Annabelle F. Hyrkas, 83, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, in Shawano. Born on March 7, 1932, in Dancy, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances (Glover) Daul.

After high school Annabelle enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict as a naval photographer. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After she earned her honorable discharge from the Navy, she worked several different jobs before retiring from Bonduel Pickling after 25 years.

In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling. She had a love for photography, for work and as a hobby. She also enjoyed bird watching, reading, and especially a love for her cat, Sam. During the last years of her life, her son Dan patiently and tenderly cared for her. He was very devoted to his mother, spending time with her every day.

Annabelle is survived by her children, Wendy (Ron Kunzer) Hyrkas, of De Pere, Rose (Lenny) Kingsley, of Florida, Dan Hyrkas, of Shawano, and Jennifer Sanderson, of Green Bay; her sisters, Alice (Charles) Valiska and Bernice (late Darwin) Dey.

Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the honors. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 117.
