Marcella M. Conrad

Marcella M. Conrad, of Port Washington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the evening hours of Feb. 23, 2015, at Ellen’s Home in Port Washington, where she had been a resident. She was 95 years old.

Marcie as born July 26, 1919, in Grafton, daughter of William Hennings and Hedwig Oberheu Hennings. Marcie grew up on a farm in the town of Grafton. She was always a hard worker and never complained. She bought and managed the Mayer Hotel (now the Port Hotel) in 1959. Marcie was an excellent cook, planner, entertainer, and had great pleasure in working and making people happy.

She is survived by her four children: Judith (Robert) Binsfeld, of Port Washington, Jo Ann (Tom) Poull, of Port Washington, Toby (Andrea) Hornslein, of Denver, Colorado, and Jacquelyn (Todd) Klister, of Shawano. She is further survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian Carraway, of Fort Meyers, Florida; brother-in-law, Elmer Viesselmann, of Port Washington; her aunt, Lorraine Lewin, of Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Norman Viesselmann.

Marcella (Marcie) Conrad will have a memorial service for family and friends at her little church that she loved and was a member of for many years. The service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 141 S. Smalley St., Shawano, after the Sunday morning 9:30 service and should start at 11 a.m. July 26, 2015.

Marcie spent many years helping her daughter Jacquelyn and granddaughters Dana and Hilary Bohm run the Timbers Restaurant, located on Lake Drive, Shawano, in the late 1980s and ’90s and then came back for many summer visits while living in Fort Myers, Florida Marcie moved back to Shawano in 2009 to be close to her family. So on the 26th of July, we will be celebrating the life of our beloved mother, grandmother and friend!

Happy 96th Birthday, Mom. We all sure to love and miss you!
