The city of Shawano is proud to announce the launch of its new official website. For the past seven months, a cross-departmental website team has been working with Civic Plus to develop a new city of Shawano website, which can now be found at

City Administrator Brian Knapp stated, “This is a great example of all city departments working together to improve our customer service capabilities.”

Providing a website that offers a clean design and allows people to easily navigate through current information is essential. The city’s new website offers a multitude of capabilities not previously available. An excellent example of this is the “report a concern” feature. With smart phones, you can take a picture of a pothole that needs to be fixed, a vehicle illegally parked or other concerning issues, and with a few simple clicks the information will be routed to the correct city staff.

To make access even easier, a free mobile app will be available in approximately four to six weeks via Google Play and the Apple Store. Once the mobile app is installed, the application will be able to link the information provided to your exact geographic location, further improving our ability to respond in a timely manner. Additionally, you will have the option to provide contact information should you want to be updated on the status of the request.

Many people use modern online technology as their primary source of sending and receiving information, and it is critical that municipalities keep up to date and equipped to provide information to those who prefer online communication.

“The Park and Recreation department is adding new programs, upgrading parks and developing plans for public spaces on a regular basis. The new website will provide pictures, interactive plans, contact information, activity calendars and so much more,” commented Dana Dillenburg, park and rec activities coordinator.

Along with numerous new pages and information from city departments, the information and capabilities you were accustomed to finding remain readily accessible. Utility payments, real estate taxes and municipal fines can currently be paid online, with additional online payment options available in the future. Agendas and minutes can be found along with monthly calendars on the home page.

Deputy Clerk Lesley Nemetz stated, “With the website being our digital face to the community, we wanted to offer a service that directly connects citizens and those wanting to learn about Shawano to the wealth of services that our city provides.”

Would you like to be a part of this great new site? The city is looking for additional pictures that you feel best describe or show what our city is all about. It might be a picture of a family gathering at one of our parks, your son or daughter playing soccer, a picture of the farmers market, a new or existing business, the city senior gardens, etc. If you have a photo you would like to share with us, please email a high resolution picture to

On a related note, the city is also using Facebook as an avenue to share important information with you. The city currently has two department specific pages. Search “Shawano Park and Recreation Department” and “Shawano Police Department” to get connected and join the thousands who are already friends!
