Letter: Library has volumes of volunteer opportunities

To the editor:

The Shawano City-County Library staff would like to invite you to help us achieve our volunteer mission “to be a vital asset to our community.”

By volunteering at our library or one of our five branches — Bonduel, Mattoon, Birnamwood, Tigerton or Wittenberg, you can make a positive impact on people and your community.

Area families, teens, seniors and organizations have all answered the call to volunteer at these libraries. The many hours given by these volunteers are greatly appreciated and critical to the health of our communities.

Public libraries represent sharing, community, cultures, freedoms and equal access to free information. Libraries provide a vast array of ideas, technologies and educational opportunities that enhance our lives.

Come meet the friendly library staff and take advantage of the many opportunities available. You could assist with general library tasks, special events, book sale (June 9-11), children’s programming or support of the Friends of the Library, to name a few options.

This year, in particular, we are looking for garden aficionados who would like to share their landscaping skills.

If you have a special skill to share with us, please give us a call. We would love to be able to find a niche for you.

Every library is full of great stories. Come join us and add your story as well.

Wendy Rosenow,

Shawano City-County librarian
