Sherman L. Pues
Sherman L. Pues, 77, of the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at his residence.
Sherman was born on Nov. 11, 1936, in the Township of Maine, Shawano County, the son of the late Earl and Carrol (Monroe) Pues. He later graduated from Shawano High School. On July 5, 1958, Sherman was united in marriage to Marcella Krueger at Ascension Lutheran Church, Township of Navarino, Shawano County.
Shortly after marriage, Sherman was called to serve in the U.S. Army on Nov. 16, 1959. The couple moved to Fort Riley, Kan., and then to Maryland, where Sherman was stationed. After Sherman was honorably discharged from the service on Oct. 31, 1965, the couple moved to the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, where they lived since.
Sherman worked for 30 years for the Soo Line Rail Road until retirement in 1991. His hobbies included storytelling, word search puzzles, hunting (especially raccoon), fishing and trapping. He was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church, Township of Navarino, where he had served on council and played dart ball.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marcella; daughters, Tammy Lynn (Dale) Belongia II, Bonduel, and Sonya Lea (Skeeter) Schoepke, Shawano; sons, Thomas Israel (Menassa) Pues, Clintonville, and Christopher Walter (Lisa) Pues, Clintonville; grandchildren, Nicole and Gregory Belongia, Christopher Pues Jr., Sabrina Harper, Anthony Pues, Abigail Pues, Xander Pues, Shantel Schoepke, Mark, Killian, Clarence and Dominic; great-grandchild, Hannah Figlinski; sisters, Rose Marie (Marvin) Sherbeck, Clintonville, Naomi Carpenter, Seymour, Beulah Kennedy, Texas, Ellen (Phil) Noble, Eureka, Ore.; brothers, Wayne (Betty) Pues, Nichols Beverley “Beck” (Rosie) Pues, Navarino, and Sylvester “Bud” Pues (Larry Sanders), Tarzana, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Vivian, and his brothers-in-law Lee Carpenter and Ray Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Ascension Lutheran Church, Township of Navarino, Shawano County, with the Rev. John Paquette officiating. Inurnment will be in the Bethesda Cemetery, Township of Navarino, Shawano County. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Military honors will be provided at the church by American Legion Post 63 and the VFW Post 664 of Clintonville.
