Two people have been charged with drug-related felonies in connection with a marijuana operation discovered more than three years ago when authorities executed a search warrant for child pornography in the town of Morris.

Shawn L. Hickey, 45, and Diane L. Potschaider, 55, both of Tigerton, each face a felony count of manufacture and delivery of marijuana.

The search warrant was executed in May 2010. The district attorney’s office filed drug charges Friday against Potschaider and on Monday against Hickey.

Neither has been charged in connection with the child porn investigation.

Detective Sgt. Gordon Kowaleski said neither one of them is believed to have been involved in that aspect of the case. Charges of possessing child pornography have been referred against a third party, he said, but those charges have not been filed.

According to the criminal complaint, sheriff’s investigators had obtained a search warrant for items related to computer pornography, including media storage devices. During the search, they found marijuana in cabinets, drawers and “all around the house,” the complaint states.

Authorities also discovered a trap door in the bedroom that led down to a growing operation in the basement, according to the complaint.

Hickey and Potschaider could each face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if found guilty.

Potschaider was freed on a $1,000 signature bond and is due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance Monday. Hickey is scheduled for an initial court appearance Dec. 16.
