Eugene E. Pipgrass
Eugene E. “The Pipper” Pipgrass, 74, of Cecil, formerly of Princeton, Ill., passed away suddenly on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at his home.
Gene was born on Jan. 1, 1939, in Oconto Falls to Clarence and Madeline (Gallagher) Pipgrass. Gene graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1957 and was drafted into the United States Army in June 1958. Gene returned home from Germany in May 1960 and married Romaine Stoviak, Lena, on Dec. 17, 1960.
Gene spent 40 years working in various facets of the furniture industry. He began his career in sales at Sears in Green Bay. From there, Gene traveled parts of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin as a furniture sales rep for Schnadig Corporation. After leaving Schnadig, Gene worked for Woodmarc Furniture, Winterset, Iowa, and became involved in sales, design and marketing. Gene retired on his birthday in 2007.
While in Princeton, Gene was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge, obtained a pilot’s license and flew recreationally at “Piper International Air Field” and enjoyed his Friday nights with friends and family at the Park Tavern. After moving to Wisconsin, Gene became active with the Shawano Area Waterways Golf Tournament/Benefit for the preservation and beautification of the area lakes and rivers. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and had the good fortune to attend many Packers games. Gene loved to golf, snowmobile and play his guitar, and in his retirement became an avid woodworker making beautiful items for his friends and family.
Gene is survived by the mother of his children, Romaine Pipgrass, Edmond, Okla.; his children, Mitch (Pam) Pipgrass, Columbia, Md., and Michele Pipgrass, Edmond, Okla.; granddaughters, Maddison Fairchild, Colorado, Alena Pipgrass, Edmond, Okla., and Camden Pipgrass, Columbia, Md.; and two great-granddaughters, sisters, Yvonne (Robert–deceased) Gerhartz, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Joan (Swede) Peterson, Oconto Falls, Mellon Pipgrass, Green Bay; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his special Aunt Nonie.
In keeping with Gene’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and after a private family service, Gene’s ashes will be interred in the Volk Family Cemetery in Oconto Falls. A celebration of Gene’s life is being planned for Oct. 27, 2013, at the Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to the family. A lasting memorial will be created in Gene’s name.
