Katherine Kort

Katherine Helen “Kutchie” Kort, 95, of Shawano passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in Green Bay following a brief illness.

Katherine was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Shawano, a daughter of the late John and Barbara (Brunner) Kort.

She attended country schools and later attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Kutchie worked as a cook for Shawano High School. After several years of retirement, she moved to Green Bay to help her nephew raise his son. Kutchie was a member of Sacred Heart parish in Shawano.

Kutchie is survived by her nephew, Robert “Bob” Kressin; her great-nephew, Andrew Kressin; and her beloved cat, Artu.

Kutchie was preceded in death by her 15 brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Andrus, Joseph Kort, George Kort, Mary Schlosser, Frances Aschenbrenner, Tony Kort, Peter Kort, John Kort, Lawrence (Doc) Kort, Regina (Gina) Schneider, Bernard (Benny) Kort, Roman Kort, Gertrude Wittlinger, Vincent (Red) Kort and Margaret Kressin.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The Rev. Len Evers will be the celebrant. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
