Some question proposed power line route

MOSINEE -- Most people attending an open house here Wednesday regarding two proposed new electric transmission lines appear resigned to the projects moving forward, but still have questions regarding the project's final route selection.

American Transmission Co. (ATC) is proposing to build two new 345-kilovolt transmission lines in northeastern and north central Wisconsin, each about 50 miles long. Earlier the company was examining as many as six possible routes for each of the projects, but now has the field narrowed to just two for each of the projects. Wednesday ATC held an open house in Mosinee to provide information and answer questions about the proposed corridors for the projects.

"The line is going to come near my home and we're just trying to get an update on just how close it will really be when the final route is selected," said Village of Weston resident Mary Woodruff.
