Local librarian is runner up in liar's contest

By Nathan Falk, Leader Reporter

It took so long for last winter to arrive that Wendy Rosenow of Shawano observed that everyone was so curious about when winter would arrive that even the geese were flying in question mark formations.

It was that fib that was one of the runners-up in this year's World Champion Liar Contest, which received 300 entries.

Rosenow, a librarian at St. James Lutheran School in Shawano, was shocked to learn she was one of five people to earn an honorable mention in the annual event, sponsored by the Burlington (Wis.) Lions Club.

"That is hysterical, I cannot believe it," said Rosenow, who learned of the honor Tuesday evening.

She entered the actual contest about a year ago on a whim, with some encouragement from teacher Ralph Mueller.
